Default Storm 9500 on AT&T; Need Help!

Please Login to Remove!

So I finally got my Storm 9500s back from the DM3 Unlocker and I popped in the SIM card. I get EDGE not 3G and there are no service books for the internet.

So here is the question. Where can I get the Service Books, most likely from a Bold, to get this thing on the internet? Thanks in advance.

Ok, first download the attached file. It's generic AT&T service books.

Then on your computer go to C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\Share d\LoaderFiles\OS version\Java. Select File>create new folder and name is ATT. Then find the .cod named net_rim_bb_browser_dameon and click and drag the module into the new folder you just made.

Put in the AT&T sim card>plug in device>open DM>Apploader>Add/remove programs and step your way through. It will then remove the net_rim_bb_browser_dameon module.

Now Open the Dm again>Backup/restore>Advanced. On the right will be the Storms info and service books, etc. On the box to the left select file>open and select the file you downloaded. Once it's in the box on the left, click once to highlight, then click the bottom arrow(which moves what's in the left box to the right). Then go back to main menu of DM.

Go back to C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\Share d\Loader\OS version\Java and go into the folder you created named ATT. Right click the module>Cut>Go back to main Java folder and paste it back.

Exit out. Plug in device>Open DM>apploader>add/remove> and step your way through. You will see net_rim_bb_browser_dameon.cod file being replaced.

Now go to AT&T BIS Page log in and resend your service books. Then on your Storm go to Option>Advanced Options>TCP APN should say APN: wap.cingular Username:WAP@CINGULARGPS.COM Password: CINGULAR1

Sorry I didn't include screen shots, just don't have the time. But this will get what you want. however the Storm will not work on AT&T's 3G network.

Seeing as how AT&T doesn't have service books for the Storm, I don't think registering will do anything. This was already discussed in another thread by a user who lost his Verizon service books when he did a hard reset and wasn't able to get them to by registering. Good luck in your efforts.

No I posted how to get it working above your post. Follow those directions and everything will be fine. Service books and all.

Good deal Jason. I was in the thread when you posted so I missed your post. Glad someone has found a way to help these poor souls.

You won't get 3g on the 9500 here in the US. The frequencies for 3g are different here then where the phone was intended.

Why not switch to Verizon and run the unit where it was intended.

AT&T service is not really all that great, especially if you travel about the U.S.

Or is the just about the challenge?

Xel, it's all about the challenge of doing something that they said you can't do.

Depends on where you live. Living in Alabama, VZW was great, moving down here to Florida, I found out otherwise. Thats the glory of having different providers, you can pick which works best for you.

Now, using an unlocked on a carrier it isnt intended for is just a nice luxury (so much for being "exclusive" to one carrier.
