Wirelessly posted (BB 8330)

One post is enough. Back up your BB Re- install the OS and then run the app loader in the OS to install the previous version of BBM.

First back up your data!

Options > Advanced Options > Applications, highlight BBM 5.0, press the menu key and select delete.

Then, download the OS you have on your device. Most likely it can be found in the sticky thread of the sub-forum for your device. Install the OS to your PC and delete the vendor. xml file.

From there, connect your device to your PC, launch DM, go into App Loader and place a check next to BlackBerry Messenger. Click Next and it should install the previous version on your device.

Did you have to re-add all your contacts? or can you restore the BBM database?

Here's what worked for me.

Before I ever installed 5.0, I did a device backup. When I wanted to revert back to the BBM that was originally on my device, I went to Options>Advanced>Apps> and deleted the BBM 5.0.

Then, because I just have the stock AT&T OS, I did a Wireless Upgrade via the phone. Options>Advanced>Wireless Upgrade.

After it selected the appropriate upgrade, which was still the stock OS, I put a checkmark on the BBM and hit install. 20 minutes later I was good as new.

Re-installed the backup I did a few ddays before and all my contacts showed in BBM.

Not the only way to do it, but how I did it.

The first step in my post was to backup your data. Did you do that?

Then connect your device to your PC, launch DM, go into Backup/Restore, select Advanced. You should see 2 columns. The left should be the backup file you created, the right will be the device databases.

Highlight BlackBerry Messenger and click the arrow to move it over to the device data base.
