Default Email on Blackberry question

Please Login to Remove!

Hey, I'm reasonably familiar with blackberry devices. We had a BES server at my previous job and I picked up the setting up of devices. At my new job we don't have one though and mobile email is supplied through activesync/OWA syncing on Exchange.

My question relates to how blackberrys handle this.

I have had 4 devices through in the past 2 weeks, 3 of which came with an email setup option that allowed me to put in our outlook address and it also does calendar and contact syncing: great.

Todays device however didn't come with it. Doing a bit of reading it seems I can setup email via the vodafone site of www[dot]mobileemail[dot]vodafone[dot]com and I'll get pulled email avery 20 minutes or so. If it works then fair enough but I want to know why this phone didn't come with that configure email option. The only cofigure email option is BES activiation which I don't want. I tried using the software CD to switch to BIS incase this was the issue but that's not done anything either.

If anyone can shed some light here I'd appreciate it. I phoned vodafone but they didn't seem to know anyhting about a setup email option, but all our devices are vodafone.

Thanks

its a bit strange that the three devices managed to sync contacts and calendar as it is supported by BES only.. and you don't have BES installed.
Maybe some of the BES admins can be of greater help.

id check with vodafone that theyve not sent you a BES only device with this 4th one. the others will have been BIS devices however contacts and calendar doenst synch automatically with BIS like on BES you have to do it manually through desktop manager. if you ring voda with the PIN and IMEI of the 4th device theyl be able to tell you if its been provisioned right and if not change it over

Don't know much about this stuff but would BB Unite be an option for you.

Seems to be able to manage up to 5 devices. I assume it's a mini-BES.
