Default Not all email in Inbox appears on BB?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, All;

Having recently received exactly the help I needed from this forum, I thought I'd try my luck again ...

I have a user who had a problem a couple of months ago, so I deleted his account from the BES and then re-added it. It took care of the problem, but none of his email from before the re-add is available on his BB. For example, no email prior to 1-April-2008 is visible on his handheld, though it is in his Inbox. Is there some way to make sure that everything in his Outlook inbox is also available on his BB?

He has a Pearl and I believe his carrier is AT&T
We have Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 R2 (w/ Exchange 2003) with BES 4.1.2 (Bundle 47)

Would deleting & resending his Service Books do anything?

You can remove him from the BES and remove the BB info from the Mailbox and re-add him and activate his BB again (this will remove any backed up info on the BB). By re-adding him the BES server will use the settings under Prepopulation.

Of course, I try to convince my users that the BB is not an email archival system.

What I have done in the past for users that "insist" on getting old email on their BB, I just use the Email Reconciliation from Desktop manager.

You could upgrade to BES 4.1 SP5 which allows for remote searching of email messages ... if the message is in the mailbox; it can be found.

You could also put in a reg hack that'll force pre-population on users regardless if they are new adds or not. Search here and at the BlackBerry Technical Solution Center for pre-population

this happened to me this morning, tried what was suggested above and the emails didnt appear, only those that were sent after it was reactivated.

however i just left it on my desk in the message section after doing a reconcile, picked it up 15 mins later and they were all there.. sometimes i think a bit of patience is required?

Recently (I think that it might have been at 4.1.4 or a service pack of it?) it seems that RIM changed the way that email prepopulation works - prepopulated emails come down AFTER the handheld has said "100% complete".

It's not a problem; just a surprise if you're not expecting it.
