Default Latest OS: 8330 4.5.0.311/4.5.0.186 (Multilanguage)(ESN Devices)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.311 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.311
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.186
* Software Platform: 3.4.0.59
* File name: 8330AMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel311_PL3.4.0.59_A4.5.0.186_Spr int_L.P.exe
* File size: 83.16MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...BB765225CE8C0E

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

For the previous OS, see this link: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...n-devices.html

How to determine if you have an ESN or MEID based device.
From the main menu, select Options, then select Status.
ESN devices - On the Status screen you will see ESN on the display
MEID devices xxx8211; On the Status screen you will see MEID on the display.
NOTE xxx8211; You cannot install ESN-based software on a MEID device, nor can you install MEID-based software on an ESN device. They are NOT interchangeable.

Sweet. A new update that's not 5.0!

I thought they gave up on 5.0 for the 8330?

I don't know much in software language. So I would like to know if there are any significant changes with the new update. What can we do now that we couldn't do with the old one?

Their are never ever any change logs but you can usually expect a quicker and more bug-free OS.

Of course if you have no need to update your BB then stay with what you got.

No. I've found this OS to be very stable with the memory. Even running the new Twitter App my File Free is very stable.

This is definitely a worthy upgrade in my opinion.

One little quirk I've found with this OS (Or it might actually be device considering how much use it goes through) But when I am plugged into the Audio Jack, if I twist the Audio cable while it's plugged in it automatically launches the voice dialing..

(I've seen this in a previous OS just don't remember which)

I haven't seen much of a memory leak with this OS.

Do you leave any apps running in the background?
