Stupid question, but did you call Nextel? And if so, what did they say?

Welcome to the world of Blackberry. I sympathize for you.
I had a 6750 (Black and White) for about 2.5 years. I get a fair amount of e-mail, with about 90 messages in, and 90 messages out during a business day on average.
I would surf the net a little bit on the wap and html browsers.
I was on the 1 megabyte plan. It worked out really well, because, I would pay $40 Cdn for the plan and $8.00/megabyte over. I would cap out at $51, $55, $62...so I was saving a buck or two each month as unlimited is $60 Cdn.
I purchased a 7250 to get into the world of colour.
I still had the same amount of e-mail...and I surfed the net hard. I downloaded ringtones from a bunch of sites, a few screensavers and backgrounds, and 2 games.
I called my carrier after a week, and wanted to know how much data I had used, and to see if I should upgrade to the unlimited plan. The rep had to call her help desk.
She said that I had gone $85.00 over my plan, which meant, over 2.5 weeks, I had 9.5 megs of traffic, of which, about 8.75 MB were with the new colour blackberry.
If you're on the net at all with your BB, I would strongly recommend the unlimited plan.

I called nextel today and they wanted to know if i had GPS or do I use my phone as a modem. I just started using my email 4 days ago. Now im on the unlimited plan and they said they would credit me $150 but I still dont understand how this happend. The other phone on the account has all the same downloads but that bill was $29.00. I love the phone I wont run it over with my car and mail it back but DAMMMN

I did 10mb in less than a week. If I didn't call and change to unlimited, my bill would have been about the same...the colour pics on the internet take a ton of data and most sites say that 1mb of data is about 500 emails. It can happen! Perhaps someone should start a thread here with monthly data used...even though I know who the winner is already.

You all got it easy. I had $300 (Dec), $300 (Jan), $275 (Feb) bills with Rogers Canada.

The first 25 megabytes is $60 flat.
However, if you go to 50 megabytes, it costs a whopping $235 with Rogers because it is $7/megabyte after the first 25.

See the "Over 25 megabyte BlackBerry Data Club" link in my signature.

Here in Spain, Vodafone has a 25€ plan for professionals which allows you to surf and get emails on a plain tariff.

I just need to check my bill to see if its true... Will keep you updated, hehe, you'll know if they bill me above that for my surfing over blackberry.

I got my BB 2 weeks ago..before that I had Bluetooth enabled phone and used to hook up my PPC to the net. Used to read news on my PPC 45 minutes each way commuting...play games...chat....used to use up prolly 50MBs a month.....all for $19.99 unlimited with Tmobile...I highly recommend the unlimited plan If you have that available with your provider. By the way...Been two weeks with my BB 7100t...and lovin' it...and feel lighter walking...with only one device...!!!

Default Good deal

Man I got it good, not only did the University that I work for buy me the Blackberry 7250 ($29.95 from verizon on the State Agency Plan) but they are also paying for the whole plan, including unlimited data. The plan they got for me is 400 anytime minutes, free nights and weekends, and free in network calling, which means that I can use this for personal at certain times of the day and on certian calls anytime. I am considering cancelling one of my personal phones, wht pay 35 bucks a month. I have been working for the University for 10 years now, I call the Blackberry my Gold Watch lol.

What exactly is your point? This thread is about 2 months old already.
Did you just feel the sudden need to brag about your free stuff?

well said dawg. It's nice to hear of someone getting a good deal and enjoying their blackberry at the same time.

Penquin, isn't the point of online forums to share knowledge and experiences?
