"All Day Event" not behaving
Please Login to Remove!
We upgraded to the 4.0 BES and 4.0 desktop software last year. Since then, one user who owns a 7250, has had a problem with the All Day Event appearing as 00:00 to 23:59. Any time an All day event is created on his Outlook 2003 calendar and is synched (wireless or wired) the appt appears at midnight. It is not viewed with the diamond at top of the screen as before the upgrade.
If he tries to change it to an all day event within the BB, it appears as two days and need further modifications.
All day events created on the BB work and appear correctly.
I've search the forum and found responses with Time Zone on the PC. The PC is correct and synch occurs with the wireless 4.0 BES. Any ideas?
Thanks

Do you have any service packs installed on the BES? SP4 fixes a BUNCH of calendar issues.

Chek to see what his Outlook working hours are set to on his PC, under Options Calendar settings.
Hope this helps.

Ah, make sure ALL of his timezone settings are correct, with daylight savings time on the BB, Computer, AND in outlook. I had this problem with my girlfriends blackberry and went crazy trying to figure it out, when all I had to do was check - enable daylight savings time, and set the corrct time... VOILA!

I'm having a problem with all day events. For some reason they are showing as ending before they start, ie one day out.
could this be the day light saving problem?
Is there an option on the BB to set DST? I could not see it under date/time.
thanks

We had a user with this problem some time ago. I think we upgraded his BlackBerry code and it fixed it.

I'm running an 8700g with 4.10.286 platform
and BES 4.1 Express with Exchange 2003 SP2.
Not sure if that helps?
thanks

I have a 8700g with .286 code and using it with OL 2003 (no BES). All day events are often broken.

I assume there is no known fix?
Do you see the start date show as 1 day before the end date?

I'm telling you, make sure DST and time zone are correct on your computer, in outlook, and on the blackberry....
Outlook has its own time settings similar to that of your computers. Unless all 3 are correct you will get skewed all day evnts like your describing.
1) Make sure your computer time is in the right time zone with DST settings correct.
2)In Outlook - goto
Tools>Options>Calendar Options>Time Zone
3) though it makes no difference make sure that the Options>Date Time are correct on your bb.
If you dont have DST on for the computer but on in outlook it will give you this problem or vice versa.

I checked the settings in Outlook 2003, they are set fine.
The problem seems to be noticable on the BB.
If I set an all day event, save it and then open it straight away, the end date is the day before the start?
When it syncs with Outlook 2003 via BES/Exchange it appears correctly?
What am I missing here?
thanks

Is the one on your computer fine? i've had them show up right in outlook, and wrong on the blackberry... It's very frustrating but make sure EVERYTHING is the same and that usually solves the problem - it seems like you're creating things in a different time zone on your blackberry.. perhaps CST -6 in a country - part of CST that doesnt use DST?

Everything looks fine. I even checked the BES server to see if that was set to something odd.
On my BB there are many country options with appropriate offsets,
ie Atlantic Time -4
Newfoundland -3.5
etc
There are two for GMT
Dublin,London (GMT)
Casablanca (GMT)
As I am in the UK I set it to Dublin,London. However at present we are on BST (british summer time) which is 1 hour difference to GMT.
Maybe this is the cause? There does not seem to be an option on the BB to set summer/daylight time?

I've looked at the Outlook 2003, computer time, BES time and BB time. All are set for Mountain time with a tick for daylight savings, except for the BB. There is no option for daylight savings time on the BB. Maybe another go for the BB code? Other BBs behave correctly. Other 7250s and 7750s.

As I mentioned above I'm unconvinced this is directly related to the BES, as I see weirdness on a BIS connected BB and using Intellisync. Of course there may be two issues/bugs, as the BES doesn't use Intellisync code (as fas as we know?).
One point, though, what view are you looking at the calendar in? I've found entries missplaced in agenda view, but ok in other views...

I have done some more testing with this.
If I turn off wireless on the BB, ie no sync.
Go in to the BB calendar and enter an all day event.
Save it and then go look at it again on the BB, the end date is freakin one day before the start date?
C'mon, nobody else see this? Basically this function is broken? I think if I call T-Mobile I will not get anywhere, is there someway we can report it to RIM?
Mike

Heheh,
I just tried the suggested fix from RIM, it clearly does not work.
As soon as my BB syncs with BES, the timezone is set back to GMT and the all day event is broken!!
