Default Secured WIFI Access - unable to get thru

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have a 8900 and am struggling to do this.

When i travel, i want to be able to turn off the data service (using 'off when roaming' under the 'mobile network' settings), and use the wi-fi of a hotel / plaza / airport. Most of these places require for you to visit a website and enter a username & password. I tried testing that in a local plaza where i have access to a wi-fi but am unable to. I can only use wi-fi when it's totally unsecured - where you just can select a network without entering a password.

Can somebody please help, i'm travelling in a couple of days and wanna get this fixed. Much appreciated.

Navin.

What os version do you have?

I dont remember back to the 4.6 days, but there should be an option that allows you to visit the. hotspots captive portal page to do an authenticated login

Turning data services off, even to off while roaming; will in turn stop wi-fi.
Wi-fi is a data service and data services must be enabled to use wi-fi.

Like i said, i dont remember back to the 4.6 days, but if i remember correctly there is an option that allows you to connect to the open AP and then open its web portal page so you can login.

Try deleting your AP profile and re creating it (scan for networks...)

After you connect to the WiFi hotspot, try going to the web page http://1.1.1.1 from your browser.

That's generally the web address that most (or all) of those WiFi hotspots use.
