I'm trying to sync my BlackBerry Pearl with my laptop and use the BlackBerry as the speaker/mic for it. I know that I can get it working the other way around where I can use my laptop to talk over my phone but I'm trying to do the other way around. Any suggestions?

It might work better with O/S 4.5, when that releases, because that adds Bluetooth 2 to the 8100 - you'll also want BT2 on your notebook.

I don't think the functionality you're looking for is something you can accomplish with lesser versions.

What I'd love to have is a software package that emulates the Car Phone features from my car. I could dial from the PC and use it as a speakerphone. Right now, I can't get any sound from my phone out of the PC (its sync'ed with BT2 but I don't know how to get to the next step.) Any recommendations of a site that might help me would be GREATLY appreciated...thanks...s

Would you be happy with a third-party product doing the just-like-a-car-kit trick?

Com One makes a portable BT stereo speaker that fits that description - it's stereo and BT2 again.

Several of the clip-on-the-visor BT car kits can also work indoors to give you your speakerphone function.

But, if you don't mind me saying so, I think you're in that equip-me-now frenzy that we all experience early on.

Everything changes.

The O/S 4.5 upgrade will be downloadable in just a few weeks - summer's end at the latest - and with that comes BT2 support.

Of course, that's almost the same timetable as the BlackBerry 9000 Bold, the lust for which can drive a sane man crazy and throw caution - and money - to the wind.

Your eagerness now for the PC-as-speakerphone trick will seem trivial when even newer passions boil your blood.
