if you give your pin to a friend so we can pin message back and forth will it reveal your real name...not sure i want him to know my whole name yet

No, it won't.
Unless your whole name is already in the friend's address book, it will only show your PIN number. (or whatever the friend has in listed in their address book)

You set the info you want to show up with your messages under BB Messenger > Edit My Info. That's what will show up when you send a BBM message. As for PIN messaging (outside of BBM), just what the other person has for your contact will show up.
