I installed it with full wipe 3 times now...so the issue for me is that this version seems to have issues with sync on a BES on the Custom words database...I can't get it to sync at all via Enterprise activation or the DM. I know it's not the device, but rather the OS interaction with the BES. Going back to .448 for now until the next beta. Oh well...

Back to .448. There are definitely differences in the restore category naming between .448 and .461. There are quite a few differences in the names - and the fact that I was completely unable to wirelessly sync the auto text entries to my devices tells me that it's an OS issue, not hardware.

Scratch that last item - it's not that at all. Oddly, there's no auto text category in the backup when I install it on this particular PC...and after a reinstall, same thing. I've never seen that before. I do have that category in the backup option on my other PC's. Scary...

In any case, what I said about the Enterprise activation error bug in .461 still holds true...

for the custom words dictionary there is 3 different options auto text, custom words and another one that I can't remember off the top of my head but I have had the same issue and haven't figured out which one is the correct one that would restore the "auto text" in 6.0 like it would in 5.0

So I thought -- but as I found out through a manual verification, Auto text IS actually named Auto text in 6.0, regardless. It appears in one of my DM6 installations, but not the other, which is the problem. Both Windows 7 Pro PC's have the same version of the DM and BB OS installed. Custom words, are ones added to the dictionary, and are not the same as Auto text. Even a FULL restore on one of them didn't bring back my Autotext.

Auto text are the words or text that the user can create by using the "edit auto text" feature from almost any menu, whereas the Custom words are created through spell check and scavenging text from e-mails, contacts etc...

please tell me what you are hearing as problems.

@stevew thanks and I agree 100% but when you go to edit the auto text in the 6.0 it is under "word substitution" not "auto text" like in 5.0 and such

+1 - please document the "many problems" as I like this version and am not having problems with it at all.

I have moved up from 448 and this version seemed rocket fast, even gps lock.
But, I have two languages installed in my os, and every other reboot, I have an error pop-up at launch (cursor.lang.error), and the sms icon disappears, reboot again for it to work.
seems they are repairing cursor issues.
gmail doesn't work, gsync neither.
fully wiped, went back, and updated to 461, same problems.
battery life is better than 448 in my phone. reboot time is very fast (compared to all versions before)

In fact, there seems to be no facility for the Auto text backup, or Word Substitution as now called in OS6. Then, our BES craps out and give me an error trying to restore the "Custom words" database at the end of the Enterprise activation, which again, is yet another category altogether having nothing to do with Word Substitution or Auto text (same).

That is what I have been noticing as well but when I do a full back up and then restore it brings back my auto text... kinda weird and would like to know where the auto text is being backed up in the database for that. Wish I could help you on the BES but I am not too familiar with it at this time.

Same thing happens on a wired backup restore...see what I found here --

KB24418-Performing a backup of data on the BlackBerry smartphone is unsuccessful due to word substitution database

This release seems OK to me so far. I had one device "coma" last week. I woke up to find it with the screen off, and wouldn't turn on. Had to do a battery pull.

On the weekend, Saturday morning it was VERY poky, but then all of a sudden began working correctly again. And has been fine since.

BES Activation went without a hitch. But we are on an older BES.

Do you have users who use the Auto text/Word Substitution feature? The only way I know it will backup and restore is via an install where you perform an upgrade through the DM or loader, where it backs up automatically and restores. Only issue there, it seems, that the BES seems to kill the handheld Auto text/Word Substitution database on enterprise activation after the restore..

Other than that - we have no issues.
