Default Contacts Sync issues ... corrupt Contacts List

Please Login to Remove!

So I made the mistake of selecting "sync with web email" or whatever the box said under my email settings. (I still had Gmail Sync turned on...). Now my contacts list on my webmail and handheld are corrupt. MANY multiple entries and many missing. I think some entries overwrote others.

I turned off all sync options.

Fixed my contacts list in GMail.

If I turn sync back on, will my handheld overwrite my web?
Can I clean off my handheld to force the web to overwrite the handheld?

Thanks....

Step 1: Get Blackberry Desktop Manager and back up your phone.

Now, as long as you are not on a BES server, in Desktop Manager, click on "Backup and Restore" and then click the advanced button. In the Device databases column, you can select your address book and hit "Clear."

Once your address book is blank, you can try turning on wireless sync again and see how it works, and if anything goes bad, just restore your backup.

Let me know if that works for you.

I've been having the same issue. I've now turned off the Gmail sync option, and synced again with Outlook, but some of my contacts are missing, and some are corrupted. For example, people have been attributed company names and phone numbers that come from another contact's entry. To make matters worse, I've been blithely adding to the contacts over the past few weeks -- so I'm reluctant to delete all my contacts, go to and old back-up file and rerstore them from that, because it would mean losing all the contacts I've entered over the past few weeks.

Any ideas about how I could un-corrupt my contacts, restore the missing ones, and still keep the new ones?

Gmail have a known issue to move or corrupt contacts

do following

Fix contacts in gmail
delete address book from device
log on ur BIS account
delete gmail from BIS
check service book for uremail[CMIME] and [CICAL]
if present after deleting gmail from bis delete thise two from service book
integrate same gmail again
enable wirelles sync on BIS for gmail
Wireless sync with gmail can be up to 4 hours

"Gmail has..." would be correct.

Awesome fix, this worked brilliantly, and gmail has the ability to remove/merge duplicate contacts...unfortunately I found that out after manually deleting over 600 contacts...

Good stuff
