OK, when I first got my BB 7290 one of the mail features that I wanted to use was chat "MSN, ICQ, AIM & AOL" because I have a lot of customers that contacts us via these applications. For some reason I was never able to get it to connect. I spent more than a week straight trying to get this to work. Keep in mind I am not on a BES. From what AT&T told me, they said "you will never be able to use the chat feature unless you are on a BES". I was very frustrated at that point. I was really thinking about selling the BB.

The other day I downloaded IM+ and got it installed. Once it was installed and the different accounts were created, I would hit connect and it would just hang there. I thought to myself "go figure, I knew this was going to happen". I decided to write their support team and let them know what was happening. They told me that: (We recommend you use our regular(MDS/BES enabled version. Also please enable TCP/IP in the application settings).

I did that and I just about fell out of my chair. They all connected. I was very HAPPY that they connected. This opens more doors for me on the BB. I no longer have to worry about the customer trying to get in touch with me and I am out on the road. I AM EXCITED AGAIN!!!

gina-lisa,

No, I am not on a BES. I think a lot of the connection issues I had were because of AT&T and I believe that's why they asked me to use the BES version. I was REALLY suprised to see it connect. Anyway, that's what their support team suggested and it worked...
