Default Verizon Blackberry 7250 vs. 8703e

Please Login to Remove!

I am in a quandry about whether to choose a 7250 or 8703e. I have never owned a Blackberry before. I am a therapist who needs to use the Blackberry for email contact more than anything else. However, I don't want to limit myself. I do like one letter on a key so both of these are preferable to the other choice that Verizon offers. The only significant options that seem to differentiate these is the speakerphone and expanded memory on the 8703e, and improved screen resolution, but not sure if this is worth an extra $100. The keys on the 7250 seem easier to use as they are spread out more, but this may be because I am not accustomed to the 8703e. I may want to use the Blackberryfor scheduling, but have to try PocketMac out first to see how well it works. I currently use a Palm. I am on a Mac Platform. If anyone has experience with both and can provide some feedback, I would greatly appreciate it. With my two year upgrade, I can get the 7250 for free!

I just moved from a 7290 to an 8700c, which are the same form factors as the 2 devices you're looking at. The speakerphone, dedicated phone buttons, better sound quality, and slimmer profile make the 8700 a much better phone, IMO. The slightly more squashed keyboard took very little getting used to. The 8703e also supports GPS. If money is the primary concern, there's nothing wrong with the 7250. We have lots of happy Sprint and Verizon 7250 users at my company.

Default A generational difference

Hoshbo,

I'm a happy 7250 user, but if I were buying new, I would certainly go with the 8703e. There are significant improvements in the newer device. For me, the dedicated phone buttons and speaker option would be worth the $100 difference.

Having said that, I won't upgrade until I can get the discount price because I do like my 7250 very much and upgrading while still in contract would be significantly more exepensive than $100 for me.

The 7250 is a great phone, but there is a reason that they're giving them away right now. The reason is because the 8703e is a better option for most new purchasers.

Wirelessly posted (BLACKBERRY 8703e (ALLTEL): BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/106)

I'm with Alltel. I upgraded from the 7250 to the 8703e. I paid full retail on the 8703e to do this. It was still worth it. The keys on the 7250 are spaced further apart. But the keys on the 8703e are just fine. Plus everything else is improved and sexier on the 8703e like speaker phone, bluetooth class 2, Gps (Alltel), "send/end" keys, little faster chip and the screen has a much higher res on the 8703e. The only thing I could think of is to look at Alltel VS. Verizon.

We are using both the verizon 7250 and the 8703e phones. People moving from the 7250 to the 8703e have been very pleased with the new 8703e. If you can afford the extra $100.00 I highly recommend moving forward with this purchase. However, if the $100.00 is going to put you in a pinch I'm sure you will be satisfied with the 7250. Keep in mind though, that the speakerphone function alone may justify the extra $100.00 depending on how you intend to use the phone. If it was my money, I would definately save up and get the 8703e.

I have been pleased moving from the 7250 to the 8703e as well. My only complaint is that the vibration motor vibrates much less on the 8703e, my 7250 would rock the house and you would never miss an alert.

While I've never had a 7250, I moved from a Moto E815 to an 8703e, and I am at least grateful that I can actually feel the vibrate mode now.

The Moto's vibrate was worthless. Although there are many, many features about that phone that I loved (*thinks wistfully of voice dial; wipes tear from eye*), the vibrate mode SUCKED.
