Default Any way to diable WAP traffic and only use BIS?

Please Login to Remove!

I have read multiple threads, unfortunately none provides a clear answer to my question.

I have a plan with unlimited data transfers via BIS but need to pay for all WAP traffic (up/down).

How can I disable the use of WAP completely?

Hide the WAP browser icon from your screen and only show the Internet Browser. Go to the browser settings and set the Internet Browser as default and then visit your service books section in advanced options and delete the WAP/WAP2 BrowserConfig and WAP/WAP2 Transport service books so even if it tries to drop transport to wap it won't go through.

Be aware that a reboot would most likely push those service books back to the handset.
Let us know how it goes.

You could also remove the carrier apn settings, then it couldn't use any wap at all.

Thanks for advice. I did what you recommended as well as unchecked the APN (I see nothing in APN settings, so there is nothing to delete).

Unfortunately I need to wait till mid-month for my billing to arrive as I cannot see it online
I will update you as soon as I get it.

That is not necessarily true. i had a Berry on an overseas carrier, BIS access was inclusive, WAP access was charged per kb. The wap browser's default startup page was the carrier's portal. ANY page i was hitting on the wap browser was charged per kb. Any i hit on the Internet Browser went over BIS. APN settings were blank.

So, by the looks of it you can drop transport to wap without APN details. Deleting the service books, hiding the wap browser, and don't reboot often (cute), might be the only way to go with this. You can always try giving them a call. Explain that you don't want to get charged, and give them the option to either include WAP access in your plan or remove it alltogether.
