Pretty much - RIM has not implemented such a feature for us to use, which is not that uncommon in cellphones with SD cards; the USB Mass Storage is exposed for the SD card use, but the internal memory is not. (this is not true with all phones, but a majority of them - I have an iMate from Malaysia which *does* expose the internal memory as mass storage, e.g.)

I think you've mis-read, check your posts again. I use a 2gig in mine (already had it from another phone), many people use 4gig and 6gig non-SDHC cards; see the main 8100/8300/8800 forums as there are several threads regarding SD card capacities, what works and what doesn't, etc. - I don't keep tabs on that scene beyond a cursory knowledge.
