I think that the more expensive plan is needed to use BES. This seems to be the general concensus on several other threads, although at least one poster reported having no problems using BES with the less expensive plan.
It seem logical that there would be a functional difference between the network resources needed to access BES vs. just BIS, but the difference may be purely artificial and meant only to make more money for the carrier.
I seem to remember a coworker with an Alltel BB having to buy a more expensive data plan before it would work with our agency's BES.
Sprint only has the one plan: damned expensive
