Literally overnight, I had three new icons appears on my 8700R's home screen. One for Yahoo Messenger, one for Google Talk, and one for "Blackberry Help!". I know for a fact, I did not install these, I know for a fact my BES Admin (me) did not install these. The only thing done on the my BES 4.0 for Exchange was the installion for SP5 late last week.

So my question is, where did these icons come from, how to do I get rid of them globally across all my user's 8700r units, and how do I prevent this from happening again?

These are a result of the BIS 2.0 to 2.1 upgrade. There is a RIM knowledge Base tech doc on how to perform the removal on BES BBs. I don't have the link but search for it in the knowledge Base.

Public knowledge base articles are KB-05372 (what are these icons anyway?) and KB-05370 (how do I get rid of 'em?)

Short version for BES - set 'Allow IBS Browser' to false in Browser Policy Group in your IT Policies
If not on BES, then you can only hide them using the ALT key
