Are there any hints as to an updated web browser on the Blackberry? Similar to the iPhone's browser or one like Microsoft said was coming out for Smart Phones?

It's not a REAL web browser. It might be a bit better than the one that comes on the blackberries...but, it's still not a real web browser like what's on the iPhone.

No one said it's like the one on the iPhone.

The question was is there a better browser than the default one. The general consensus amongst BB users is that Opera mini is.

If you want the iPhone browser get an iPhone.

Couldn't have said it better!!
If OperaMini is not a "real" web browser, what is it, a fake one?

Do you mean a real web browser like Safari or FireFox or IE?

What is a real web browser on a mobile device?

Use a PC or a Mac instead.

In answer to the OP question, no and there probably won't be for some time, if ever. You could never have such a browser work without a touch screen.

Part of the iphone's mobile browser power is the ability to move and zoom around the screen. While easy and intuitive to do with your fingers, the same activity would be time consuming and a pain in the neck with just a track ball.

Ah, I see. Your statement made it seem it was impossible w/o a touch screen... It would merely be different.

I have an iPhone. Also, to refresh your memory, here is my original question:

"Are there any hints as to an updated web browser on the Blackberry? Similar to the iPhone's browser or one like Microsoft said was coming out for Smart Phones?"

I didn't as if there was a "better" browser. I guess I stepped on some toes saying Opera Mini isn't a real browser. Well, it isn't. It's slightly better than pIE or what comes on the blackberry now.

I agree with this statement.

I read where Microsoft was working on a new pIE to compete with Safari on the iPhone.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

I don't know if this is an issue for the 9000 models but I am surprised there isn't more competition on the bb browswers or not real browsers () unles its a RIM thing preventing it.
