I am in the process of upgrading our BES to 4.1. Now I know that you can remote activate BB's with 4.1 BES. Does the the os on the BB need to be 4.1 as well?

No - 4.0 or higher. It does not have to be 4.1.

Just a note: Our upgrade to 4.1 (300 devices) took a week to complete a wireless activation. During this time, we had countless users complaining..

We are currently running 3.6 (125 Devices) on an older server. We are installing 4.1 on a new server then just flipping the switch. Oh joy what fun I will have.

Thank everyone for all assistance given. Yesterday I had only 25 working after our 3.6 server died, upgraded to the new 4.1 server and now have 95 out of 125. YHEA!!!

I'm still in 2 minds with 4.1. I'm running two 4.1 BES servers and they both seem a bit too buggy for my liking - actually considering going back to 4.0.4.

I'm sooo glad that I'm spending 2 or 3 or 6 weeks testing out the 4.1 server. I've been have fun with the fact that we're running on a SQL cluster on a non-default port. But I've got everything working now...
