I'm currently on Fido with an iPhone (yes i know I should have never turned my back to blackberry) and I have grown sick of its touchscreen. My question is: If I purchase an unlocked Blackberry, what features will be available for use if i'm still on my iPhone plan. If I cannot use BB messenger and email services is there a work around I can try.

Bottom line, without a blackberry data plan, you will not be able to use applications that access the RIM system. This will include the blackberry branded apps, and apps provided by RIM.

So basically all I can use is SMS, calls and third party browser. That sucks ass, maybe ill just pay the hefty early cancellation fee ):

Can`t you just switch your data plan from iPhone to BB? Is there really that big a price difference?

I don't know if fido will allow it because the iPhone plan is more expensive. They might have me locked into having to get an iPhone plan.

They may charge you the 200 decf (data early cancellation fee) due to the fact that your downgrading the cost of the plan. Ask them to see if they could put you on a bb one at the same cost as the iphone one.

500 mb is 500 mb, 25 bucks both ways for both plans. Ask their customer care

Is it possible to set up a BIS account with blackberry itself instead of going through the service provider? Like here https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw&locale=en

You still need a BlackBerry data plan.
