Angry HELP!! DM Hangs after Upgrade

Please Login to Remove!

So I applied the update to my Cingular/ATT Pearl and it seemed to work perfectly. I loaded the additional themes and I am generally very happy.

Now for the problem ...ever since the upgrade, DM hangs whenever I attach via USB. I have even un-installed and re-installed to make sure I have the most recent SP2 version.

The Pearl says it's attached so I can't do anything with it but DM just hangs and I have to kill it and un-attach. Can anyone help?

TomTom GPS units allow connectivity via BT & GPRS to their plus services (traffic, map updates, etc.) I think he may be having problems with that funtionality, I am having the same issue.

Default V4.2.1.154/4.2.1.96 Problems

I guess I'm a little late installing this OS but....

1. I had the double letter problem when typing text (multi-tap for me). I changed the Key Rate to fast and it's much better

2. My voicemail doesn't work from #1 key anymore (Invalid phone number), it shows up on the menu button only when I have voicemails.

3. When entering a New Address it doesn't capitalize the first letter of the first and last names anymore.

Any fixes for 2 and 3?

***EDIT***
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.1.154 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.2.1.154
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.2.1.96
Software Platform: 2.3.0.78
File name: 8100M_PBr4.2.1_rel154_PL2.3.0.78_A4.2.1.96_AT&T.ex e
File size: 72.91MB

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E4F82F9F00E7D4

Select the "Blackberry Pearl (AT&T Red & Maine Slate 8100c)"
*This OS will work on any GSM 8100 Pearl*

Instructions for installing:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed. It's 4.2 SP2.
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization." Don't unplug from the PC & Don't remove the battery unless the spinning hourglass has been there for 30 minutes or more. If the hourglass has been spinning for more than 30 minutes continuously you will need to wipe the device with JL_Cmder (close out of Desktop Manager during this process.) You will then end up with a white screen with small icons and an error code number like 507 or 543.

If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507/543, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

Edited Blackberry.alx for adding all vendor themes is attached below.

(Link to Previous OS thread: Click Here

Locate the Blackberry.alx file in the following folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8100-v4.2.1.96_P2.3.0.78 and replace it with the one below. Then run Desktop Manager and Application Loader again. It will install the extra themes.
Thank you. It worked.

Hi everyone.

New to this forum as well as a Blackberry newbie. I just got the Pearl about 2 days ago. *wave*

I should be fine right if I have v4.2.1.96 (Platform 2.3.0.78) when I go to the Options -> About on my BB?

Is this newer than .107? The 2 different sets of numbers is confusing to me.
