For some people, it certainly is!

Anyone interested in giving the service a try?

Hi!
I had this service for my Palm and loved it. I updated the news in the morning and had to read 2train rides... (With News partially newer than those in the newspaper the other people read;) )

Seems like what installs is just a link to the web version of the product. Doesn't seem to be the full offline sync capability of the palm or pocketPC product.

yes but it makes sense because blackberry is always on. on the other devices it caches to memory cards, but I don't think you want it to do that with the blackberry or there go 8 mb.

Oh I completely agree that the limited memory on the BB does make it difficult to cache the information locally. The flip side of that, however, is that it did make for much quicker navigation and convenience when reading through the info that was cached. I guess I also don't see how this is really a "new release" for avantgo. Aside from just setting up a web page formatted for BB users, they could have just given everyone a url to point to in order to view their avantgo subscription and not spent the time asking people to download an app and install it just to provide a link.

Now that I have the new HTML browser on my 7520 the AvantGo application works great. Some sites load slow but it is nice getting all of the info from one site. AvantGo was one of the features I missed when I switched completly to the BB from the Pocket PC. It is worth a download

Question Avantgo for Blackberry 7100g

Does anybody know if Cingular now supports Avantgo for the 7100g? My company has it's email synch to the BES service, and the Blackberry web browser is in the WAP format. Last I heard, Cingular was soon to support the Avantgo application. What is the status?

hi all,
trying to get Avantgo to work on my 7100g, it gives me the logon page, I put my user and pass in and it thinks about it and then gives me the logon page again.
I have logged a call with Avantgo but no reply yet.
Any ideas?

Apparently, the 7100g (at least) is not a "cookies" monster and can't digest ANY cookies. They say that 4.0 is configurable BUT IT'S NOT, at least not on Cingular.
Anyone have anything to help us understand why we are left out in the cold?

I am exchanging emails with Avantgo on it, not having much joy, telling me to try browsing to rim.avantgo.com which of course was just the same thing.

Looks neat, but I gave up on Avantgo for good when it didn't work on my SMT5600 :( It's all plain ol' RSS feeds for me.

I found it a few days ago and have been using it regularly. AvantGo now supports RSS feeds, so it functions as an RSS reader for the Blackberry, too. It's not as fast as something locally cached, but it's always up to date, and the AvantGo channel pages are properly formatted for mobile viewing, even with the images enabled.
