Default [RESURRECTED] Has anyone tried the new BBWeather app?

Please Login to Remove!

I downloaded this program but I get and error saying "Error: Could not find a service book entry for IPPP"

Has anyone got it to work.

If you haven't heard about it here is some info on it:

Notes: V0.74 Beta * Initial revision BBWeather is an application that displays current and forecast weather conditions for the 7XXX series of Blackberry's (V4.0 of OS). Features include: - Multiple profiles. Profiles are properties/options for a particular weather location. You can change profiles via shortcut key/menuitem which allows you to view weather conditions in multiple locations instantly - Press SPACE or choose menuitem to change between Current Conditions screen and Forecast screen - Forecast can range from 2-10 days per profile - Units type per profile - Uses the device font type and size - Temperature fields are displayed in user definable colors - Weather data is fully cached but is updated on user defined intervals and can also by updated instantly via menuitem Notes: - There is no ability to lookup/search weather.com location IDs. Here's a site that provides this service or just use weather.com: http://www.aspnetresources.com/tools/locid.aspx - This program uses TCP to communicate with weather.com. Please make sure your TCP settings are correct before using this software

I have BBToday also. (Really great program!!) It seemed like this would be a nice program for travelers. I just ran into it while searching around for new programs.

I have BBWeather installed and it works great. It was created by deadstick who also created BBToday, BBSpellcheck, and BBLight. He is putting out some awsome, open source, free sotware. Get all his stuff at http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...roup_id=131275. You can also post bugs and he is usually very responsive about fixing issues you find.

That's the only way I got it to work also. I don't like to disable my firewall so I am going to email the developer to notify him of the bug.

Hmmm....I use Nextel and my firewall is enabled and I'm not having any problems. Nice little app by the way! Deadstick comes up with some great stuff. Check out his spellchecking app.

All of his other apps work perfectly. I have had BBToday and BBLight since he posted them, this is the only program I have had any problems with.

I have had not problem with it. It is amazing how nice it is on the first release. One feature I like is it retains the past weather when you get a network error. BBToday displays the error when it tries to get weather and it does not come down. With BBWeather it shows the past weather instead. When it can download it does and updates the date and time of download.

With TMO great network I get malformed address about every other time I try to download the weather.

I went into options and selected the box "Disable MDS Proxy" and I did not get that error again.

When I disable the MDS Proxy is when I get that error. I get a Change IT Policy error when it is checked. If I disable the firewall, then it works fine.

Same thing for me. I've just got a 7100t from t-mobile and it is great.
BBWeather is a great tool but the Malformed Address messages are annoying
Hopefully they will be fixed on a future version

BTW,This forum is awesome!!!!

Default Doesn't work on a Rogers 7290

Using a 7290 on Rogers, I can't get this application to work.

If I enable the MDS Proxy, then I get the message "Error: Could not find a service book entry for IPPP"

If I disable the MDS Proxy, then I get the message "Error: could not open tunnel - failed"

Disabling the firewall doesn't help.

Any ideas?

I use the 7290 Cingular and no matter what I enable or Disable, I can't get the weather part to work. BB Today otherwise is a great program.

I am using the app on a Nextel 7520 and it works fine. All I need now is a good radar image.

Can someone tell me how to configure the weather app in BBtoday for my area? It is defaulted to TX, and I don't know what to change it to, in order to display Detroit MI.

You need to highlight the weather area and go to preferences. Under location ID change it to your zip code.

Who has removed all links to the BBTools project?? BBWeather was part of that project and everwhere you look links have been removed to download them. Its not like you can download them anymore since the project has be cleared out.

Am I the only one concerned with this??? There were five great BB applications that have disappeared for what seems like no reason. They were open-source how can anyone sue someone. This is very strange.

He posted something on RIMROAD saying that he is shutting down shop, for some unknown reason.

It was good while it lasted!
