There are two typical ways application data can get backed up. At the moment I'm using the less interesting method whereby data written to the persistent store on the BlackBerry is saved when you connect to the desktop manager. On my list (per the Future Features section of the web site) is to support the desktop synchronization mechanism. This allows you to more portably back up data records.

I have tested things like deleting and reinstalling the application and other means of deleting the application data and it seems to always recover nicely. So, I feel reasonably confident now but I'll feel better once the other mechanism is in place.

Edit: Would a module that made it sync with the outlook calander be possible? That wouls solve the backup problem and give me visuals when a service is due.
The simplest path to that would be if I added them as entries on the BlackBerry calendar on the device. That would be nice.

Downloaded like a breeze on my 7520. Will start using with expensive gas in the morning. I will really be interested in this in a couple of weeks. I have a Chevy Avalance ordered with flex fuel option. I will try it with both regular gas and E85. I can compare cost per mile for each fuel.

Thanks reedwade. I will let you know how I get along!

Just an FYI... I just upgraded to the new Cing OS and the entries did not save. The hours I put into the entries are now gone bye bye...

I actually ran into precisely the same thing a few moments ago. Sorry about that. Looks like I'll need to get the desktop sync interface working sooner than later.

Hello,
Just went to download the Version 1.0.2 and after I pressed DOWNLOAD I got DOWNLOAD FAILED. I then got the option of OK or DETAILS. Pressing DETAILS gives me the 907 Invalid JAR File. I tried this 3-4 times and yielded same results.

Running a BB7520 on NEXTEL. OS: 4.0.2.37

Went ahead and used the Desktop Installer and had no issues getting it on the 7520 at all.

This should work now, it was a web server config problem. In case someone else runs into this and stumbles across it--the content type for .cod files (application/vnd.rim.cod) wasn't set up. Something in the Nextel data path cared and choked, Cingular at least didn't mind it.

Default v1.2: metric support + vehicle profiles added

First off, thanks to all the beta testers. You've been a great help on this. Also, I should say I have enough testers for now.

--

V1.2 is now available at MileageNotes.com

Key enhancements include metric and US units in any mix you might care to imagine. This should work well for cross border drivers, for example.

Also, no more numbered vehicles--actual names instead.

There is one major flaw right now. The v1.0 code cannot abide having the v1.2 code installed atop it so you have to first uninstall your v1.0 MileageNotes. You can back up your data using the Blackberry Desktop Manager then restore after installing the new version. I apologize for the inconvience, this should not be a problem in future.

This will be out on Handango shortly.

Default Do you still need beta testers?

If you are still looking for Beta testers, I would love to participate. I have over 1yr of records I can enter in and my work (Network IT) takes me all over Florida.

I use a verizon Blackberry RIM 7250 v4.0.0.204 Platform 2.0.0.28
PIN: 300A5F6A (but would prefer email contact at pgood(AT)arinc.com

As for option to add, I found a sourceforge project for Sharp PDA SL-5500 that has just about every option you would need and is writen in C++

the link is http://mileage.sourceforge.net/
