Hi there,

Im brand new to this forum and I've only had my pearl for 1 month. Im really pleased with it but I have a few questions.

1. Can i view HTML email, in other words proper email. Not just a load of links and code when an HTML email comes through.

2. I can see my version of the software in options and it is v4.3.0.93. Is this the latest for my phone ? and How do I update the software for future reference ?

3. Is there anyway to watch youtube vids on the device ?

1. Yes. With the latest version of the handheld OS (see next answer) and if you are using BlackBerry Internet Service (or an up to date BES)

2. At the top of each discussion group, there is a sticky to the latest released version for each BB. http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html has the latest for the 8110.

3. m.youtube.com works for me

Thank you for the reply. Im updating my desktop manager now ready to try the latest software update.

mobile youtube loads fine for me but when i click watch video nothing happens. Can the 8110 pearl not display the videos ?

Im coming to download the phone software but the link takes me to many options of which I could download, which software do i download for the phone ? I have a pearl 8110 (silver).

You need to download the BlackBerry software that EXACTLY matches your phone. There is only one there that does so.

I have tried the update with the latest desktop manager version and i tried updating the blackberry software. It comes up after 'connecting to rom' and a progress bar, it comes up with a fatal error

Trying it once again on another xp machine.

Hmm just tried it on the XP machine number 2

Failed again with the same screen and error coming up

It says connecting to boot rom or something similar, the blackberry has the hour glass and white screen then it boots up into the normal screen and no update is done, at this boot the error on the laptop (XP) appears.

Any ideas ?

Can you try on a plain old Windows machine, and not running VMWare?

Use a dedicated Windows PC... not a virtual machine running within OS X.

I can try another desktop which is just windows if that will work ?

Here's what I would do..

Uninstall Desktop Manager
Download and install DM v4.2 (links are available)
reinstall handheld OS for the 8110

Try this again.

Yes, that is what we are suggesting.
Windows only.
No Mac.
No VMWare.
