Chris,

Just wanted to say thanx for the advice and detailed response. Took your advice, uninstalled the MSDict app and both the back-up and install of 4.5 went without a hitch.

Again, thanx!

So far, I have not any issues on my 8110 after this OS update. Or at least I would like to think that I updated the OS successfully!! (options->about says v4.5.0.55)

Jeff, I also see the @ symbol when there is a voice message and I've been receiving all my emails (5 diff accounts) flawlessly, even before I see the emails on my computer.

My 8110 is working fine. However, I am getting screen re-draw issues (reminds me of Windows!). I have content protection/encryption turned on because I tend to lose my phone and have a lot of personal stuff in it. I know this slows it down - but I've never had the screen re-drawing issues before!

OS= operating system, like windows or linux on a pc. Phones have 'em too, and newer versions typically offer more features. The two primary advantages (in my opinion) to 4.5 over 4.3 are HTML email and you can search for messages on the server if you're connected to a BES, rather than being limited to searching local messages on the device.

Anyone else having an issue with it wanting up update your core os every time? It is forever wanting to delete Basque language support as well. I let it run through and do what it wants but it keeps saying it needs to be done every time I connect. It also wants to upgrade my BB maps every time too.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling maps but it keeps saying it needs to upgrade. As for Basque I have no idea what is going on, I have even tried to select it, let it install then deselect it to let it uninstall. Nothing seems to help.

Also I have noticed with DM 4.5 that there the options to totally wipe it out and do a fresh install are grayed out.

Good chance your carrier will release this same version. That would make it "official." Many carriers have accepted this OS and will be posting it up in the coming month or two. You might get lucky and your carrier's official version will be the next version, though.

OK well I am still having the issue with not getting mail unless I physically do something with the unit, then it floods in and many times I have already deleted it from my server hours before hand. GPS just doesnt seem to be working as well with this load either. I think I am going to go back to the Vodafone load until something newer than .55 comes out from somewhere. Any idea when that will be?

HAHAHA well I just followed the links to the previous installs from the OP the threads back to the Vodafone .37 load and guess what... they now have .55 up. Maybe I will try their version.

Thumbs up Upgrade was a breeze...just follow the instructions.

Def. much more faster than the preloaded version. So far mine's stable no major issues to report.

Still a rookie with my 8110.

There is no difference between different carrier's versions of the same software version. The only difference is the vendor.xml. Once it's deleted, it's the same thing.

Yeah I am seeing that. Once it was done I noticed it had the same file name. Any chance you would have a link to a .37 somewhere? I have been having nothing but problems with .44 and .55.

At the bottom of the first post are links to previous versions. You should be able to click back to the .37 version.
