Default RevA Compatability when tethering 8130?

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know whether RevA speeds are a firmware update away with VZW? I can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere. No one at VZ even knows whether the 8130 is RevA capable??

I can help.

It is REV-A. No firmware needed. I get 1.5 mb's tethered consistently.

Wow... I am currently visiting in Cleveland where there is no RevA so I just don't know what to expect. No one and I mean NO ONE seems to know. What is your upload speeds?

I am up against the wall on an eval of the 720 modem (VZ wants $60 a month) which I should be able to eliminate if the BB will tether at same speeds... granted, will need to pay additional $15 for tethering of BB, but at least it saves me $45 a month.

Cleveland is 100% REV-A by the way...have you updated the PRL lately on your card? If not go to the top of VZAccess Manager, click on options, then activation. See if that helps.

The map was taken off of the VZW website, and the blue represents Broadband coverage.

Now I'm really confused.... VZ told me that RevA would be turned on in exactly 23 days???? Does your VZAccess Manager indicate a RevA connection?

I don't have my 720 with me... it's been temporarily disabled by VZ... I was at 30 days on me eval. Also had to install the special version of VZAccess Manager for BB...

Ok, can you type what is available under options?

I ask again, are you using the cable?

Also see no RevA indicator at the bottom of VZAccess Manager as I saw with the 720 modem (of course, I knew I was in a RevA area ... Myrtle Beach, SC). If Cleveland IS a RevA area, it's not showing me that in VZAcess Manager.... what do I do???

Under options.... Refresh Networks, Run Wizard, Refresh Signal Levels (grayed out) and Test WWAN device (grayed out). I AM using the USB cable between BB and computer.... the same computer that gave me RevA speeds with the 720 modem.

READ the post above...

1. What options do you have when you hit "options" on the top of the VZ Mgr?

&

2. Are you using the cable? I ask this cause most people do not use it.
It has two usb plugs, which give you a half watt boost.

I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but in the world of cell phones this is tremendous.

The cable that you are talking about is for the 720.... I am not using that device now. I am wanting to tether the BB at RevA speeds. The only cable that I have is the one that came with the BB.

Ok...

What I want you to do is go to your desktop.

Double click on the vzaccess mgr software icon (not on the setup)

When it shows you your conection, with signal strength, and all that garb...

There is an options tab. click on that.
