Thanks

Hi-

As to recording something, I can't say enough about the VR+ program. Go to Software for mobile devices: Skype, AIM/iChat, MSN/Live Messenger, Yahoo!, ICQ, Google Talk, MySpace, Jabber, LCS, Sametime, Oracle, Reuters to download the 1 week free trial (it says unlimited recording unregistered, but after a week you lose the ability to email what you recorded; not true; after 1 week, I wasn't able to record anything- but liked the program so much, I bought it). The tricky part for me to make a recorded sound a ringer, I had to email the recording, then save the recording (which is converted to an mp3 as an attachment), saved the attachment to my computer, then...can't remember for sure, but when I planted the mp3 into the blackberry ringtone folder, I couldn't browse to it when it was on the memory card. I was only able to browse to it when I put it OUTSIDE of any folders; just remember to enable Media Card Support via the advanced options. It also works if you plant the mp3 if you put it into your music folder, but I elected not to put it there (was an annoying to hear a ringtone during a workout). It's definitely do-able, just play around with it.

Alternatively, record something from your computer, convert it to mp3 using any of the many mp3 converters you can find free on the 'net, then plant the recording where you can browse to it to set it as a ringer.

Another thing I miss is the ability to record phone calls...

I sure hope the Pearl 8130 does come out with AT&T...I thought it was only Sprint that has/had it...

RIM certainly is pushing out a lot of new devices in quick succession these days...Think they might be feeling some pressure? (whether justified or not)

No, they just know that we're like crackheads everytime a new software release comes out... so every once in a while, they put out a new model with a couple more features than the last one had, just as an excuse to make money of our insatiable desire for the next big software release
