Default .64 upgrade - Applications to be erased: "BlackBerry API Library" ?

Please Login to Remove!

Just finished my upgrade - all went fine, but I did get an error message that said "one important applicaton did not load - use app loader". I left the uipgrade finish and the phone loooks fine. However, if i re-run the app loader and go to the end it comes back with the message to Erase the "BlackBerry API Library". Should I press yes? Does anyone else have the same issue? Can you please check?

I had a similiar message when installing one of apps on my Pearl. I allowed DM to do what it wanted and nothing happened.

Default What about your camera?

After you upgraded, did your camera still work?

Balekwa44 - yours is the first post I can recall about the camera not working.

Are you on a BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server)?

Checked the camera - worked fine. I think you have a defective Perl as I did not see any other messages when people upgraded to O2, including myself.

I am on a BES Server, would that make a difference with the camera?

If they pushed out an IT Policy to disable it, it would.

Bump:

Just wondering if anyone had a resolution for this. It isn't causing any problems per say, but I am slightly OCD and it's bothering me. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

*Talking about the Upgrade to .64 and the everytime I run the App Loader it says Items to be Deleted "Blackberry API Library"*

I have the same issue....
I loaded .67 on a couple days ago with no issues. However, now when I go into Desktop Manager it wants to erase this Blackberry API Library on mine too.

I uninstalled the .67 OS and reinstalled on the PC just to make sure in my tinkering I didn't remove anything I shouldn't have. I've added no third party apps since the .67 upgrade. I'm guessing the DM knows what it's doing but I'd like to know what it's doing, too!! Anyone?

I hit yes to erase the API library... then I lost connectivity to the network and the browser disappeared. Had to wipe the handheld.

I just recently got a Blackberry Pearl for xmas; I did the upgrade from the T-mobile site and have the same issue.

It always responds with "Applications to be erased:"BlackBerry API Library" from the Application Launcher.

Whats worse is, I want to import a CSV address book (ascii import) into my phone since I do not use Outlook. When i try and do this - Everytime, I get

Unable to initialize application API.
Verify that correct application version is installed.

The two are connected I'm sure; This really sucks cause a phone is useless without all my contact/address information.

Ideas to fix this?

There was a thread about this on another forum, I'm having the same problem. Someone came along and said the API stuff is used only if you're on BES, not BIS - hence, the deletion attempt.

As far as it not actually *doing* anything, that's a bug. We just have to live with it, it's nor harming anything (other than our good sense ).

this EXACT same thing just happened to me when i upgraded to .71, i can't remove any apps using application loader now because it will also remove API Library. any fix for this? Please?

There is no fix that I know of. Each time you run the App Loader you will see that. I just install or uninstall what I want and it always seems to say that but never has any adverse effect.

So nothing is affected? Strange all I did different when installing .71 was dl the latest desktop manager and prior to that I had removed IT policy through FAQ thread. Coincidence?

I just noticed I can't send mms messages. Could this be affected by this whole ordeal?

Hm could the mms prob be due to that the .71 is a Cingular update and I'm on tmoble? Because the tmoble site's update version is .64
