Ta da! This seems to be the magic equation. Those cods in Java folder and ALX in Loader files folder. Bam. Loading up now. Finally. Woot.

Hmm. Seems I spoke too soon. I don't have a VVM icon on my Bold. Guess I got halfway there ... never have been good with following instructions.
Any thoughts on where the icon might be or what I may need to do to get it to show up? No VVM is getting annoying now.

Another update:
I've been running .314 on my 8900 for over a week now. It continues to be mostly good. As I mentioned above, I still get occasional resets in the browser, especially when scrolling on a zoomed page. But that was happening even with 4.6xxx OS versions. I'm getting occasional freezes, and have to do a manual reset. I haven't noticed any pattern to these yet, but they're infrequent (annoying, though).
I tried the Opera Mini beta 5, but it didn't work well at all, and I couldn't tell if it was the browser itself that isn't ready for prime time, or the OS that was causing trouble. So I uninstalled it and downloaded 4.2 for the 8900. But...even though the WAP download page said it was Opera Mini 4.2 for the 8900, it doesn't behave like a BB version at all. The BB escape/backup key doesn't work. To do things, I have to use the Q and P keys as "soft keys" to execute whatever's on the lower left and right corners of the screen. In short, it functions more like a browser on a Nokia or similar handset. The BB menu key also doesn't bring down a menu, etc. So, although Opera Mini works, it doesn't work as it used to, under OS 4.6xxx. I don't know if this is the fault of the OS or just a sign that I'll need a non-beta version of Opera Mini 5. Probably the latter.
The Bolt browser is also a bit quirky with this OS. Sometimes the cursor "drifts" for no apparent reason.

Yes speculation of charging or network management, yet mine seem to have died off today. I did do the the ATT browser fix this am and leave mine on 2G most of the time.

Auto More
I'm running .314 on 8900 and have Auto More enabled on messages but it doesn't seem to be working. It doesn't display the rest of the message until I close and open the message again. Everyone having the same bug?

Quick question, if I am upgrading from 4.6 to 5.0 is there anything I need to do besides the usual, jl cmdr wipe and load with loader? Will the browser, etc, be there or are there extra steps required? Thanks for all the help.

I did a complete wipe and loaded the OS on a debranded Bold. I like it and no major problems. Not sure this is such a major release to the OS though.
For the browser, I needed to do a fix that I found through a google search. As I recall it was about 10 steps but they were easy to follow.
I was getting quite a few reboots during the day, not sure why. I followed Mark's instructions to reformat the sd memory and internal memory on a thread in this forum; actually I only did the internal and that got me down to just maybe one or two reboots a day. I just did the memory card tonight so I'll see what happens.

I have upgraded my BOLD from 4.6.0.291_P4.0.0.183 to 5.0.0.314_P5.2.019.
I did not wipe, just a backup and the upgraded.
The first attempt hung up, the BB rebooted, all was as before.
The second attempt just worked and went pretty fast compared to previous upgrades.
I am on a BES, the BB started the activation and completed it with only one error in the certificate store database.
The BB now works normal.
What is different?
-well, it looks better, blueish selected icon style, more shades, 3D buttons in menues
-picture thumbnails are displayed much faster
-media player looks a bit different, or am I wrong?
-all my apps still work
-KeePass decryption of the database seems faster
-Camera is better (translucent pane)
-memory consumption is about the same as before
-what did I miss?
All in all the best upgrade I have seen for a while.

What I forgot: Enterprise Messenger (Blackberry Client for use with Microsoft(R) Office Communications Server 2007(TM) does no longer work.
It shows still up in the applications list, but I can't find the icon in any menu.
Does anyone have a newer/working version?

I noticed my speaker when in speaker-phone mode isn't as loud or as clear. Is anyone else noticing this? So far this is the only problem I am noticing.

Quoting my own post here to update...
The BB back/escape button doesn't work in Bolt, under this OS. You have to use the menu key and choose Back. The menu key does work, unlike what happens in Opera Mini. Streaming video in Bolt works.

I agree with you, it's a better OS. Working great on my Bold.

The battery life is vastly improved on my 8900 after upgrade. I can now go two full days without charge and still have 2 bars left at the end of 2 days (this is with heavy email traffic). In the past I could barely get to the end of the second day on the last red bar.

About to upgrade my 8900 which is on BES.
Does anyone have an idea wether I need to wipe the device? My main concern is that I need to reregister at the BES server, which means I have to bug my sysadmin to "reset" my activation. Or does it automaticly reregister with the BES server?
