Question IM+ vs. Yak-On?

Please Login to Remove!

Out of these 2 which would you pick to drop money on? Ramble is OK, but I think these 2 are a little more refined - namely in their interfaces and notifications (yak-on's tabs are great). i've found IM+ to be a bit more stable connection-wise than yak-on, but i prefer yak-on's overall interface. Which one do you prefer and why?

BTW verichat is also a good app, though I am not willing to pay the annual fee, therefore I've narrowed it down to the 2 other one-time fee options.

I prefer IM+ I tried yak-on and wasnt fond of the UI...font was way to small, although I liked the tabs

The new beta release with Yak-on gives you the ability to change font size. Out of the IM programs I've tried, it has worked best for me and always on 'away' if I leave myself on that status. The other IM programs are good but go with whatever works best for you. Yak-on is real close to releasing its final version and this last update put a lot of finishing touches on.

I haven't tried Yak On. IM+ seems okay...however I haven't been able to get Emoticons to work in Yahoo. This could be because I'm still using the trial...

I'd say go with IM+, only because Yak-On is still in beta. And IM+ supports more IM clients...

IM+ has many features - MSN conference, broadcast IM, manage history, contact list configuring ant other, IM+ supports now 6 IM services

I think IM+ is a best choice for me

Default I would have to say IM+

for to date, i have not yet used yak-on, it has a problem connecting with msn for me, while most of the othe im programs connect so its not a connection issue its something specific to yak-on, on my particular decvice and instance.

well, the last three weeks or so ive been assesing the trial versions of the following IM progrmas (i use MSN mainly) VeriChat, WebMessenger, IM+, Yak-On, berryvine Messenger and Quick IM. Quick IM was deleted as quickly as it was installed. berryvine i instaled a week before i actually got my tcp settings working, so by the time i could connect the trial had expired and as of yet i still havent. i try to reinstall it fresh but the trial still says expired. Yak-On looks and sounds like i would really like it but for me msn will not connect for some reason (ive thought maybe its because my msn passport account ends in @sympatico.ca rather than @hotmail.com -could it be?) so as of yet i still have not tried yak-on either. IM+ is definatelya solid program in most respects, didnt have any major complaints there. veri chat was very solid both in stability and in overall features, though the interface is somewhat lacking. webmessenger is truly solid in every respect including stability, battery consumption, interface, features, etc.
so what am i to choose ???

I own IM+ but over the last 6 months never got it to work, I suspect a Cingular issue but gave up trying to get help from IM+ or Cingular.

Yak-on beta version works great for me on my 7290, I have used it for about 2 weeks and I am real happy with it, I will install it on my 8700 when it arrives and then buy it if all goes well.

The one thing that I did against the install directions, is I left my TLS set to the default of proxy and didn't change it to handheld. When I changed it, my BB would freeze up after about 5 messages, but with proxy it works great, I have chatted for up to 30 minutes 3 or 4 times and had many shorter chats.

It must be carrier-specific with Yak-on settings. If I try it with the default of proxy, then MSN will not connect at all...no matter how long I give it. When set to Handheld, it connects to MSN without a problem, although it does take a good 30 secs or so.

ive tried all 3 and im still doing testing for Yak, personally Ramble is the most stable and fastest right now. if you like the GUI interface then go with Yak although there are still bugs to be worked out... and IM+ is the last of my choice

So far with Yak-On MSN won't work no matter what TLS setting I have on there. I'll try it more later.

I tried Yak On for MSN but it didn't work. I have read that IM clients use alot of data and I can understand that but I'm wondering how IM+ compares to Verichat for data consumption. Are they equal or is one more data friendly?
