Default New/used Blackberry tour questions

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone. Im new to the forum and i may soon be new to verizon. I currently use nextel and my plan is almost done. I am looking at getting verizon because EVERYONE i know has verizon. A freind of mine has a blackberry tour that he is willing to sell me for about a quarter of is new price. Because i use nextel, allof my phones have had sim cards. Whenever i got another phone i just took my sim card and put it in the phone and it worked. I know with verizon they dont have sim cards and the number is actually on the phone. If i get this blackberry, does it have a sim card like nextel, or is the info stored inside the phone? If it has a simcard, what other phones can i use the sim card with? Also, i am worried that this is a lost phone. I mean, i think my freind found it somewhere, worst case, even stole it. Should i buy it from him before he sells it to someone else? I am afraid to get it and it wont work. Im thinking that because, what ive herd, it has a sim card, its like nextel and the phone works with a new card. Am i correct? I dont want to pass up a deal, i also dont want to get screwed, AND im also new to verizon so PLEASE help me out with all of this. Sorry its not very organized. Hope to get some good help. Thanks in advance! OH are there any problems know with verizon blackberries?

Call Verizon's Customer Service and have them check the ESN before purchasing it. If it is legit, you can activate it. The device runs on both GSM and CDMA, so it does have a SIM slot for the GSM part of it.

The phone might have a blocked ESN! you have to call the carrier first to clear things up!
