Default Exchange and BIS

Please Login to Remove!

We recently started using exchange. Very exciting.

However I am noticing not the emails that come in get pushed to my BB. I am finding that only emails that goto my INBOX get sent over but any emails that get rules applied to them and placed in other folders as they come in do not get pushed to the BB. I am on Rogers network and using BIS.

How do I fix this issue without removing the rules? The rules are what keeps everything organized for me in Outlook.

You need to set your folder redirection for the other folders in your mailbox.

Messages > Options > Email Settings > {click menu button} > Folder Redirection

Check off the folders you want to have redirected to your handheld.

You don't see anything that says 'Desktop' and then below that, an entry for your email box with a little PLUS (+) sign to the left of it?

Highlight your Mailbox, click menu button, choose 'Expand'.

OH!

Forget everything I said. I misread your post and thought you were on BES.
My apologies.

You can't do what you want to do with BIS. You need BES.

iPhone supports ActiveSync, and the BlackBerry doesn't.

Even without ActiveSync, the iphone supported multiple folders in Exchange through IMAP. Mind you this was mail only. Contacts and Calendars didn't sync with IMAP.

Your needs will determine the best device for you. Maybe the iPhone will suit your needs better than a BlackBerry on BIS.

Neither one is "better" than the other. They're different and they communicate in different ways with Exchange.

Since you have an Exchange server... then BPS may an option for you. I believe you can get a free 1 user version of BPS (BlackBerry Professional Software) which should give you the functionality you're looking for.

Because RIM sells and makes lots of money off of BES.

Well its actually simpler than that. iPhone - Consumer market first, Business second. BlackBerry - Business above all, consumer second. Businesses like to be secure in the way they do things. Thats the reason for BES. Consumers generally dont care, or dont understand the reasons for security and thus dont need/want to use it.

The BB isn't your limitation. It's BIS. You need, as others have already said, BPS or BES.

They don't sync over IMAP, which was Argon's point.
You need ActiveSync for wireless PIM sync between iPhone and Exchange.
