Default BES Activation Issues

Please Login to Remove!

Reinstalled several times. Followed the installation guide, etc. At my wits end. Here are the details:

- SBS 2003 (Exchange 2003) Server
- BlackBerry Manager 4.1.4.17
- Carrier: TMobile

Here is info from the logs that should include when I create the new user, then attempt to activate:

The correct email address has been replaced with [email address] in the above logs.

I have reset (wiped) the phone to factory defaults.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

have you tried to activate a new user with an empty mailbox to rule out, there is a a problem with the mailbox ?

if you execute the iemstest utility in the \programs\Research in Motion\Blackberry Enterprise Server\Utility

and select the user in question. What is the result of the test ?

The problem seems to be the following log entry

Quote:
Still handled by desktop
Can you try to activate via USB and desktop manager? Does that work?

Also check out the following KB article:

Yes, I noticed that too, which is why I did a "wipe" of the device. I thought this should have cleared that message.

I was able to successfully activate the besadmin account (per nobody7290's suggestion), so apparently it is something with my email account.

Strange. It's working. I guess I just needed to do a couple of wipe's and reboot the server a couple of times. Also, I'm beggining to wonder if a call I made to TMobile didn't resolve the issue. When I contacted them, they found that "I might not have the correct data plan" on my phone (really helpful, guys), and then also found that it might not work since there was a content filter that had been activated on the account. Supposedly, she fixed both issues, but I gave it the weekend before I tried again, and I'm wondering if it just took those updates some time to propagate.

Then, it maybe all is related to a wrong provisioning of the SIM card/Blackberry.

If t-mobile had set the acount to "prosumer" and not to "enterprise", the blackberry will connect to the wrong APN.
Etp messages from the device might arrive at the server, but will not got back to the blackberry.

If you saw enterprise activation in the options menu before the call to T-Mo, you were configured correctly as this is only seen on devices that have correct data plan. It is a service book that gets delivered via the carrier.

Also just noticed you said "I was able to successfully activate the besadmin account"... as in your administrative account?? On a Blackberry? Why??

besadmin23,
I can tell you from my own experience, that this is not always the case.
normally yes, you should not seed the enterprise activation. But If you erase the BB, it will be present again. Turn on and try to activate. The icon will vanish soon, but the time in between is long enough to try an activation.

To test with an empty account. This account also happens to have an Exchange mailbox.
