Default Battery Life on .216

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys!

Anyone here using .216 and noticing their battery life has gone to crap? My battery lasts max one day now, where back on .167 I had 4 days. I charged it overnight last night, and got up at 10am. its now 11:50am and I'm missing two full blocks and I've done next to nothing on the phone.

Anyone else?

Unhappy No difference here, just as bad as always>

I have used every upgrade since I bought my bold in October of last year. I have never gotten more than a day and a half. I must say that I have followed the advice in the forum on maximizing the battery life (search) and i have mine set to power off at 11pm and back on at 6am. This helps but if left on I get 24 hours max.

I still use my 8800 and get several days from it with moderate use. Obviously this is not a fair comparison - no wifi and no 3g!

One of the primary benefits of the bberry platform has been the long battery life. Hopefully they will get this one figured out.

Good luck!

Keith

Hello,

Battery life is good for me on .216. Had some issues on previous releases but this one seems (so far at least) to be giving me a day and a half of moderate use.

Hi,

I upgraded from .190 to .216 a few weeks ago and suffered a very noticeable drop in battery life (enough that I actually bought a spare batter because of it). I'm probably getting about 75% of the lifetime I used to get on one charge with .190 and and contemplating going back to it. My only hesitation is that I think a newer OS will be officially released soon and don't wanna downgrade and then upgrade again.

But even with .190 (the best OS I've used so far), I wasn't getting anywhere near 2 days, let alone 4... Crap, I'm not even getting ONE day right now. LOL

My batter was bad on .217, .219 and .228. Downgraded to .216 and I have way more battery left than with the higher beta builds.

C'mon. 4 days. My Curves don't last 4 days. I am feeling pretty good on .210 with 1 day (20 - 24 hrs) Did you use the phone or data. Was it always asleep. Isn't it about time we all get real about battery life. How about a new benchmark? 1 Day is OK. Trickle it up when you can and hopefully you'll either be at the office or at Home once a day.

I am using .216 and also experiencing horrible battery life. Is the consensus right now that .190 is the best so far for battery life?

.190 was better than .167 and .216 for battery life.
I dont use my phone alot to be fair, but the battery life is a bit worse on .216 than .190.

Wutever.. I jumped from .190 to .216 and my battery life DOUBLED. I can go 3 days without charging.. and I use it to handle no less than 50 emails and 200 Txt a day.. and I use google maps a lot.... I do not use Bluetooth or Wi-fi (largest battery killers)

i dont use bluetooth, get maybe 10 emails a day, and rarely txts/calls.
my battery will go down to 95% just sitting around and 80% very quickly if used the broswer for all of maybe 10 mins.

on .190 my battery was at 95% after using wi-fi all day, although not browsing, and again the same above.

of course, it may depend on your carriers OS version of .216, tmob uk, i have crapish battery, the .190 was the AVEA version....

I'm not entirely sold that this is OS driven -- I'm sitting at 25% battery life after about 4 hours of doing hardly anything. The Bold feels warm. I'm suspicious that an app occasionally locks up and eats the battery.

It's so hard to compare battery life from one person to another, or even one day to another. I know if I use CV for any length of time the battery drains faster. But I might now do that every day. Last night I watched an episode of NCIS before going to sleep. Battery went from 70 to 50percent.

i can't swear to this but i "perceive" post-.216 that with more solid wi-fi (with white Wi-Fi icon showing) from home network and office visitor lan -- and just the fact now of Wi-Fi white icon being on most of time now day and night -- the .216 drains battery slower. wonder if there's a connection

I'm on 216 and everything looks good so far.

Two observations:

- If they bumped the antenna gain to get better 3G or better Wifi, that's a trade-off I can live with.

- I attached the "Application Switcher" to my left convenience key. That way I'm always aware of what's running. Having Media Player or Google Maps (or anything GPS-aware) in the background will eat battery life.
