Unhappy Help disassemble water-damaged BB Curve 9320 pls!

Please Login to Remove!

Hello there,
I must perhaps be the unluckiest person owning a Curve 9320 - dropped it in water yesterday evening and somehow managed to dry it off after a couple of hours (sun works like magic!). However, I am a bit scared that the water that got into it might cause the components to corrode and want to take it apart in order to try and clean it somehow to prevent it from rusting.

But I cannot find any guide for how to take the phone apart - all videos of other BBs look quite simple and none of them actually resemble in construction the 9320. Only managed to get out the two mini screws that are visible at the back of the phone when the lid is removed. What now? I can't locate any other screws and been inspecting it for hours now, nor is there any available tutorial on the internet.

Please help! Still have some hope that it could work for a bit more than the month i've had it now (sigh). Thanks

It does work normally as it is now, but is it actually a better idea to put it into more liquid (ethanol) or just leave it be like this? Any advice welcome!

Several people have come here lately to ask about repairing water-damaged phones. 95% of the time, it's not worth the time or the money.

If you're going to attempt drying out your BlackBerry, it really should be left in a bag of rice for several days, not hours. As to your situation, you've either been very lucky, or it's going to fail on you soon. Since you've turned it on, any corrosion or short-circuiting has already begun. In my opinion, I would make a backup of the data and hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.

When my LCD was damaged, I bought a new one through Repairs Universe and they included a video telling how to take the phone apart and replace it. This video might help you.

I'm not permitted to post a link, so just go to YouTube and look for the video called "Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 / 9300 Screen Replacement Take Apart Guide " from RepairsUniverse. the hard plastic tool is VERY handy, I tried using other things like screwdrivers and damaged the housing a bit.

I agree with fourstringfuror. Cut your losses, trash it and get a new one.

As I said, the OP's device is almost certainly water-damaged. Replacing parts will not change that. It's not worth the effort or the money.
