Default Browser on the 8900

Please Login to Remove!

I have heard that the browser is a lot better on the 8900. I hate the browser on my 8830. I am thinking of getting the 8900 when my contract expires. What are the differences/improvements with the new browser?

But do all the function work like they should. I found many web sites that would not display properly in my BB browser on my 8830.

From an UI stanpoint.. the browser in 4.5 OS is almost similar to 4.6. The resolution of 8900 actually helps see more content on the screen.

The browser on 8900 may be better than some other BB browsers, but the the browsers Opera Mini and Bolt are both significantly better and faster than the BB browser. I have both (free downloads). I mostly use Opera Mini since I am used to it from my earlier phone and it performs better in showing some of the characters which do not exist in English alpahbet.

When I upgraded to OS 4.5 on my 8320, I noticed a significant improvement with the browser. I liked Opera Mini but I could never seem to get it to work reliably.

I love the browser on the 8900. It reminds me of Opera Mini (not saying it is the same) but it's good enough for me. It seems to load pages fairly quickly and I like the view.

Opera Mini is a 3rd party browser which you can install in your device and use to browse websites which you would normally have done using the default BlackBerry browser. Both the browsers (Opera Mini and BB Browser) have their own pros and cons, so it will be personal preference from usage perspective.

You can visit the address "mini.opera.com" using your phone’s default Web browser and install it.

Thumbs up

I have the bb browser, opera mini, and the bolt browser. I use each for different things. It's great.

Yes, browser on 8900 is much better, as speed of 8900 make it better than my 8800 on OS4.5.

I think for "normal browsing", I use BB browser. But for "heavy website" (like cnet), I found Opera mini and BOLT better. The problem I get with 3rd party browser is I don't get integrated with other apps.. like if I get a link in my email, or in Viigo, when I open the browser, it default to blackberry (no way I can choose those 3rd party apps in the default browser option)... BTW, anyone know how to change that?
