Sorry, didn't know they were on 4.0. Yes, I would go to 4.1 but I would use the CSL instead of the TMO version. You get all the new frills with no side effects...

Been running the Hong Kong CSL 4.1 since it was announced in these forums. Never had any problems with it. Should have know better than to mess with it. I backed up and wiped the device clean with javaloader, then installed T-Mobiles 4.1 on my 7105t. It took much longer than HK CSL. After about 40 minutes, the hour glass finally stopped and it came to life. I like the Dimension theme from the 8700 and thats what I went with. Enterprise Activation was a disaster. Took 45 minutes, never received the Activation Complete pop up. Then it decided to do activation on its own twice more over the next hour. Finally gave up and went to sleep. This morning, the Activation icon came back, so I did a data wipe only. Reactivated again and about 30 minutes later, I finally got the Activation Complete popup. It seems to be working OK, except that every time you go into a feature for the first time, I get the hourglass for 30 - 45 seconds. Does not happen when I access something the 2nd time. I did notice my available memory has dropped from around 13mb to about 10mb. I am going to continue using it for a week to see how it runs, if not, its back to HK CSL.

Chin - Could you or anyone explain what you mean by this? Also are these the only shortcut keys you have seen issues with? Do the standard shortcut keys for Blackberry functions still work?

i can't for the life of me figure out what my enterprise activation password is. Is it the same as my email password?

Anyone figure out how to re-activate the enterprise activation?

i updated my 7105 last night and there are no really noticeable improvements other than the browser seems to connect and load faster. the hourglass hangs around when i open something for the first time but then everything functions normally there-on-out.

Well, I just did a downgrade to 4.0 then upgraded again. Got my pictures back. Hopefully the disappearing call log and message issue is gone too.

Are you on a BES? If so have you talked to your IT department? If no to either of those, have you used javaloader to wipe your BB. Make sure both your desktop manager, and handheld managers are both off when you do so. I would also for good measure since nothing seems to be working right for you, unistall both the desktop manager and the Handheld OS and look fo rand install the newest versions before I would try to reload the OS on your BB.

kontiki, thanks for the reply. i wiped the handheld and connected and that appears to have fixed both issues....

then again, it might have just down-graded me.... but at this point, i will just take a working-BB. after work, I will play some more....

I've asked t-MO UK about this upgrade and received a resounding silence! Does anyone know if I can install this and have it supported in the UK?

A lot of what we do here is not officially supported, however a 7290 is a 7290 no matter who sells it, the only difference is which wireless vendor locked the phone.

When T-Mobile bought Voicestream wireless in the US, they pretty much left everything in tact and therefore voicestream SIMs still work in all the phones, but European T-Mobile phones are treated like a different vendor as far as the SIMs are concerned.

Basically, it will work, but don't expect them to support it if you call them.

Thumbs down Is it me or is T-Mobile's 4.1 slooooooow?

I have installed this on 2 different BB's now, a 7100t and a 7105t. Both installs were on a deviced wiped with javaloader and took a few minutes. But then it took over 30 minutes for the hour glass to disappear and the OS to boot up. Once there, it seems like everything you click on is followed by the hourglass for 30 seconds or more. Plus, with no address or calendar entries, I have only 10mb free, instead of the 13mb I had with Hong Kong CSL. I just love the fact that you cant download anything from the T-Mobile Download Fun link since it tells me my phone is an "Unsupported Device". Looks like my week of testing may not last that long if this OS continues to take forever to load anything.

Is there a way to load the Dimension theme on the Hong Kong CSL OS?

Default V4.10 observations...

Upgraded this weekend... had been having A LOT of java.Null.Pointer exceptions with 4.0X (tmo). Willing to try just about anything

Upgrade took about an hour to backup... Chose to re-activate fresh.

Performance is definately slower than 4.0X.. Address filters/lookup work better and more accurately (I have 2560+ records) Finds names faster, but overall it is slower.... especially with the themes other than the t-mobile default.. odd? Space invaders is so slow it is not usable.... so much for games...

No java.null pointer exceptions which is the deal sealer... I can live with the performance hit for stability...

Does the included aim/icq/msn/yahoo client that t-mobile put in with the update use your text messages? Or does it connect through TCP?

Mayor,

The U,J,H and K shortcut keys in Google Local ceased to function as shortcut keys after I upgraded. After downgrading, they functioned normally again.

Other than the loss of the "Compose" app (and thereby the C key functionality), I saw no other loss of shortcut key functionality.

Admittedly, after we saw how poor 4.1 was performing on our 7290's, we decided to abandon 4.1 and downgrade. The peformance decrease was that noticeable.

Luck.

SMS...

@Chinasaur, I really mis the lock button. I have it as a habbit to lock the BB when done and before I lay it on my desk. Now it speed dials a call when I hit the button. Sucks!

Hey, I just noticed the phone button on the top of my 7290 no longer works. Is it just me?
