That could be.. I would remove all your OS install and then re-install a single one.. I don't believe you should have that many Options in there.

Sounds like this is a pre-released evaluation unit. Those are tough to upgrade

Go into add/remove programs and delete all references of Device Software.

Then install the version you want.

Try heading to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\" Delete all the OS folders.

Remove the entry from the Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs, then check that specific directory and delete any OS folders..

Plug your BB and run the App loader, it should not find ANY applications. If it does find any use the delete button in the Desktop Manager/App Loader to remove any entries. (feel free to post another screen shot).

After nothing displays in the App loader, we are going to go a step further....

Start -> Run, Type "MSconfig", go to the start tab and choose disable all.

Then reboot and, install the 4.5 OS and then try the process again.

Ok, you can go back into MSConfig -> Startup tan and enable everything.

What other devices do you have attached to your computer?

..I'm gonna go back into the first page here, after you wiped your Device with JL_CMDer did you try going striaght to OS 4.5 or the previous version?

I said this sounds like a pre-released evaluation unit because this is what you said:

You very well could have purchased an Evaluation Unit, which has special coding in the hardware that prevents it from being used in certain ways, for example, upgrading the firmware to a higher version than 4.2.

I am very inclined to agree with you.. This BB has been wiped clean.. tried different OS versions.. Tried different computer/ports... turned off a very big portion of the computer processes. So we eliminated everything but the BB

I have had the same experience. Purchased Phone from Fastcardtech. What I do notice is that is says "Oracle" where the battery is. A Friend took the phone and used a program called MFI Loader, and tried to reload it, and it still didn't work. It will only use 4.22.

I have spent many nights just like you Kretus. I'm still searching for a solution. So if you find anything please post.

If you guys have tried anything not mentioned in this thread, I'd recommend mentioning it so we don't end up walking in circles.

I have tried the latest version of MFI Multiloader. I have wiped the unit with the J Loader etc, and it still will not update. I has given me both the reboot cycle problem with no screen display, and I have gotten both erro 317 and 424. All which have suggested I back date to 4.22.

this is tough. I wish someone would shed some more light on this problem.
