Exclamation Strange Bug in my 7520 OS (nextel)

Please Login to Remove!

I go to thes address book to direct connect people I have talked to thousands of time and the direct connect number will be gone all other info is present. I can close the address book and go to another address and theirs will be gone. I can go back to the original one I clicked on and it will be back. Strangest thing I have ever seen. the first time it did it I re-entered the dc number and went to call them and it was entered twice.

Anyone have any ideas whats happening or has anyone else seen this.

There has been an instance a few times that when I sync to outlook, the radio (DC) field in outlook will not be 1 of the sync fields. When that happens the dc # will be there, just not a recognized number. I change outlook to show the radio and the trouble will be gone. Not sure why it happens though.

With me it would be like this.

Coworker: *beep beep* You there?
Me: (fumbling for phone, too late, need to unlock screen, highlight user name on call log screen) *click* *ERRRRRRRRRRRRR* (User not available)
Dial 123*456*786 *click* *Brrp* Yeah I'm here

Meanwhile it says the other guy's name.

For some reason it seems that some numbers were converted from the long format to the short format. So I went into the phone and re-keyed all numbers in the long format and it seemed to fix it.

could it be that your first BB7520 has risen from the "BROKEN SCREEN" and playing tricks on you.. getting back with being stepped at, Dawg? lol

I don't have that problem... that is weird.
does that mean that even in your call logs it goes away too? you know the history of dc? check if it only happens with your phonebook.

Dawg,

do you sync with Outlook?

I have sold tons of BB 7520 and recently have had problem with the new software. There are 4 in total 2 sync with outlook the other 2 have never been hooked up to a computer since the day I transfered there phonebooks. I called BB tech for Nextel and they say they have heard of only a handfull, if any adressbook problems. At first I thought it was and issue with the format of the DC number just using last part if there on the same fleet and urban (the first part of there dc numer 123*45*####) but that didn't solve the issue. Nextel (sorry Sprint/Nextel) did sent an e-mail to Rim about the issue with my contact info, so hopefully they fix the issue in the next release of handheld software. I'm also waiting to see if this happens on the 7100i's we have sold a few of them so far (they have the 4.1 handheld software which we should be getting by the middle of november). I will keep everyone posted if I hear from Rim or Nextel on the issue.

Hey that sounds like me.....but I have not had any problems that Dawg has been having. Do you think there is a problem with the sync not happening properly or if the address changes on BB after you change it, but it is not updating when you sync it?

When in Outlook there is a way to select which profile you want (Home, Work, etc. and there is an option for Radio).

Has anyone encountered the bug I am having (posted elsewhere on HoFo I think).

If I DC someone there will be the BB icon and the words Push To Talk. Then when I go to call someone I will see the phone icon and instead of a timer the words Push To Talk. Or vice versa - a DC conversation with a timer (frozen and not moving or counting) next to the BB icon. For some reason the two different options will get reversed. If I go through and delete out all of the DC coversations it will then work correctly for the phone icon or vice versa and go through and delete all of the phone conversations and the BB icon and Push To Talk will show up correctly.

I was at an NRS over the weekend getting my wife a new antennae for her i90 and spoke with the guy behind the counter who had not heard of this. He said when he added SpellCheck he lost the ability to "Reconcile Now" from his email options.

So I think this newest version of software is messed up!!!

never seen that issue..

Yes I sync with outlook; the number is there one sec gone the next and then back again with out me doing anything except closing the address book. So it has to be software

And my outlook shows radio number under the drop down menu of all the phone numbers I am using 2003

This does not sound like Dawg's problem though.

OK, I'm having the same problem. Radio # is in Outlook but not in BB after Synch. If I go to the contact in Outlook it's there but when I synch it is not picked up by the BB. Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. I'm currently running 4.0 of the desktop software.

Thanks to JD for redirecting me to this thread. I searched but was unable to find anything about this problem.

Thanks again,

Yeah Dawg, same stuff happens with mine. It's freaky. I've changed the way the desktop software synchs, as far as telling it who wins and wether to import or export or synchronize and it does not seem to do any good.

RIM has to know they have a problem with this. I checked there website for about 2 hours last night and could not find anything. Not really doing anything at work today so I may look on Microsoft.

I'll let you know if I find anything.
