Are you trying to use 32 or 64 bit Office 2010?

I'm reading this whole thread and am still not sure what the solution is. I'm experiencing something similar. I have a bbl 8820 and just bought a Samsung laptop with windows 7, and I have Outlook 2007. When I connected my bbl the first time, the sync worked, and I was able to transfer all my calendar, notes, address and tasks from bbl to my Outlook. Now that I have been updating the fields and I want to do a two-way sync, the desktop manager (v5.0.1) won't let me. At first it wouldn't recognize the device. I un-installed, re-installed, shut down,... and now it recongizes it. But then it won't sync and the DM screen greys out and gets stuck. It won't do anything.

Please help!

1) Make sure no "Desktop Manager" components are running. You may need to kill BbDevMgr.exe, RIMDeviceManager.exe, and DesktopMgr.exe using Task Manager

2) Run regedit.exe

3) Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Manager

4) Create a new 32bit dword reg value named "DeviceConnection" and set the value to 1

5) Launch Desktop Manager

For me this was a new install in a VM I created to test this with. I noticed that there was no value named "DeviceConnection" where one does exist on a machine of mine that is working. Once I did this, then DM would at least start up and not show that stupid message screen where it then does not allow you to select the device. It appears that the programmers at RIM need to go back to school and learn how to test application updates and use FRESH computer images for their testing.

HTH
that is just brilliant .. thanks .. it's working just fine now ..

thanks again ..

Default Syncing contacts with outlook

I have been able to sync my 9700 with outlook until recently. Now it will sync calendar but at contacts I get a message saying the folder could not be opened and it fails. I am using Windows 7 64 bit and outlook 2007 and 2010.

Default Re: Desktop Manager and Windows 7

I faced the same problem on Sony Vaio Win 7: the DM 6 will not run at all, it will crash before opening. The problem had to do with the Hotkey drivers for the vaio, therefore I disabled both the Event Management (from Control Panel) and the Shared Utility (deleted the file:Programs Files/Common Files/Sony Shared) and restarted. Of course my display brightness and the projector Fn keys are not working now but I'm fine with that.

Hope it helps.
