Yes I have a 7520 or i wouldnt have answered your question I dont know what you are doing wrong but I click the symbol and it brings up a menu and I hit the U on the menu and boom I have _

I too have a 7520 and I get an _ when I do than hit u.

I read recently (wish I could remember where) that Nextel plans to enable the modem in the 7520 in the future. I sure hope so! (Sorry to re-hijack the thread back to its original topic).
