Default 7100i battery draining in under 10 hours...?!?!?

Please Login to Remove!

The last two days the battery on my 7100i(only a month or so old) is completly drained in under 10 hours. I unplugged it from the charger at 7:30am this morning it is now 6:25pm and it is completly gone. I dont use the phone that much during the day to drain it. Is this a known issue or do I have a fudged up battery? Like I said it has only started this the last couple of days. It used to last me at least 2 days before.

Make sure, unless you are actively using it, that the Blue Tooth is turned off.

Try killing the battery completely then recharging it. Usually with a new battery this is good to do. I have done it on other batteries and after that they have lasted a lot longer.

I keep everything on and I get about 10 hours as well, with a lot of web use. I just tend to leave the BB in the holster until I think it the site loads.

Default battery probs

do you run any third party apps?
disable the BT and make sure you exit out of web not just switch between screens. Some websites auto-refresh alot and gobble up battery. That said I dont get more than 30 hours battery life and I dont talk all that much. Since I use mine as my primary alarm clock I plug it in next to my bed everynight and never have any problems.

One thing that I noticed is that sometimes on the 7100 series the speaker will stay on after a call. If you turn it around and put the speaker to your ear, you will hear a little hiss. Happened to me...I just did a warrenty exchange.

I had the exact same problem the last couple of days. Charges all night and in the same amount of time it's dead when it never used to be. I rebooted it and today, following the same usage that had been draining it I still have over 70%. You might try rebooting it.
I never turn it off so maybe it needs it once in a while.

all the previous posters are on point about consuming life of the battery, but my bare bones opinion versus the other 7100 models is this thing does eat up more battery, but I still love her.

So I checked everything. Drained the battery and then recharded and same thing happened. So I pulled the battery and held the power button for 30 seconds. then re-installed battery and recharged. Seams to be good now. I unplugged it from the charger at around 6am this morning and still have 80% battery left. Thanks for all the help everyone!!!

My 8700 normally last 4 days with moderate usage, but when I had Cingular network problems it drain in about 12 hours. My problem was 3rd party apps (bbweather and Yak-on) were constantly trying to connect when Cingular has disabled my account. This could happen if you are in a weak signal area too, not just 3rd party apps, but the BB itself trying to seach once your signal is dropped.

By pulling the battery, you may just be closing all the apps which fixes the problem.

Other points, like leaving the BB out of the holster, proper charging, etc. have already covered.

When I pulled the battery it did the same thing. IT wasnt until I held the power button down for 30 seconds that it fixed it.
