Default Making BB (BIS) check mails more often

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I have a blackberry (BIS) and it checks mail every 15 min or so.
The thing is, if I send a mail onto blackberry account and log thru the internet page on my computer, I see it there but it gets to my phone after 15 min.

If the message is in the mailbox but it takes 15 min to get to my phone, Im presuming that it is in the phone that it chhecks for mails every 15 min. So there must be some way to tinker with the phone so that it checks for emails every 5 min or so instead of 15 min.

Is anyone aware of this? Is there any software to make it check every 5 min?

Any suggestions?

The BlackBerry does not check for or request mail; the BIS servers push it. There is a timing sequence there, but there is no way to have BIS push the e-mail more frequently.

For faster e-mail, either 1) use G-Mail, which pushes very quickly to the BB, 2) send e-mail directly to your BB e-mail address, or 3) use a hosted BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES).

With BIS, there is no way to speed up the push from the server to the handheld.

Personally, I am very happy with the way email is pushed every 15 minutes or so. I figure if anyone wants me, they know the phone number and can call.

The capability of being almost constantly connected is good in theory, but in practice, I think it is not all that its cracked up to be. I don't really want or need to be THAT connected.

For me and my Deaf family and friends, immediate delivery of PIN, email, or IM messages (like your phone calls) is a must.

I used to use option 2 as described by NJ, but I've been using option 1 since gmail integration became available.

I have never set my BIS account to go get email from other POP servers.

I think yahoo, gmail and the blackberry.net addreass all give you immediate push. You can always have your mail forwarded to your free blackberry email address depending on what email carrier that you have.
