So the fix for the APB msgs will only work if you don't sync your address book or journal?? It was my understanding that the reg hack actually disabled the APB's msgs period....like it shut the feature off. I am still having issues since I applied the reg hack....actually we have received more APB's since....go figure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We are definitely seeing it with address book and journal syncing... but otherwise it seems to have been reduced or eliminated. Since they've already 'fixed' or 'disabled' it several times, I'm not entirely optimistic about their ability to completely eliminate the problem with SP2.

I think it is safe to assume that RIM is an Exchange shop.

Also, read the Admin Guide on page 21 after applying SP2 for Domino BES. The reg key is different from the one on previous version.

It is ridiculous this isn't a GUI option.... but hopefully its an actual fix this time. Here's the details for those who didn't catch it in the 350+ pages of PDF documents included with the service pack.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Server
New DWORD value called “DisableFailedNotify”.
Set VALUE to 1 to disable automatic notification

Apparently you need to do TWO registry hacks--disabling it isn't enough. You also have to set the limit to 0. Here's the instructions on that one:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Server
New DWORD value called “MaxSkippedNotificationsPerDay”.
Set VALUE to 0 to set the limit

We had to do both reghacks to get the Attendant messages to disappear. Sloppy implementation, terrible documentation--but it did the trick.

We have did both hacks and we are still having problems....we are making changes to the mail template which is something that we have noticed causes these msgs pretty consistently. After doing that the APB's start rolling in. So after SP2 all you did was put the reg hacks in and it was all good?

Actually....The one reg hack for 4.0 SP2 is posted wrong by MarvinK. The DWORD Value name and VALUE is correct but the location should be:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents

Hope this works for us....the few preliminary tests shows it is working.

Hmm... on page 21 of my admin.pdf it gives the path I indicated. Which reghack is the one that should go under agents? Is it "MaxSkippedNoficationsPerDay" or "DisableFailedNotify"? I double-checked the PDF and my post definitely corresponds with their documentations. I assume yours is right--since my hacks (from the PDF) dont work.

Yeah....go out to SP2 download site and look at the documentation (admin guide). They may have had a typo and then fixed it. The one for 4.0 SP2 is the MaxSkippedNotificationsPerDay. Hope this helps.
