Last night I put my phone on the charger (at about 50% battery) and when I woke up it was completely dead. I tried holding the power button but nothing happened. I did a battery pull (waited about a minute) and put it back on the charger and the LED light was solid red. I waited about a half hour and nothing happened. Eventually the LED light turned off. I waited another 15-20 minutes but nothing. Did another battery pull and the LED light was solid again, but turned off after 5 min and an empty battery with a lightning bolt came up. Then that screen went away and the LED came back on. It alternated between these two screens twice more, and eventually the phone started to turn on. It hit the home screen, and shut off again. Now when I put it back on the charger, I get a single repeating flash (no pattern) from the LED, and it won't turn on. What's up?

edit: another dilemma I have is that my contract is eligible for an upgrade, so I was going to go into the AT&T store today to get it upgraded. How can I tell whether it's the OS or the battery? I just want to be able to grab my contacts off it before I switch..

Try borrowing a fresh battery at an AT&T store and see if that does the trick.
