Default Highly recommended! Blackberry 9700 charging pod, only $8 bux!

Please Login to Remove!

I know I posted another thread about this but it got buried and did not include photos of the actual pod and nobody would ever be able to find the photos. Well I got it today (that was fast) from Amazon. The main point of this charging pod is to save wear and tear on your Blackberry's USB port causing it to rip away from the phone's main board. It can and will happen with repeated charging/plugging your charging directly into the phone's USB port. It's happened to quite a few of us.

Amazon.com, OEM RIM Blackberry 9700 (Onyx) Bold 2 charging pod

I will confirm that the item is indeed OEM (RIM-branded) and is not some knock off. *whew* It looks much better in person than online. Online they tend to look cheesy. Anyway it's simple. Plug your phone in and drop it in. Works as advertised.

I just snapped these in my office and will embed them into the thread when I get home. And sorry about my dirty hands I had to change a tire out yesterday and the stuff won't wash away. HAHA :( The macro mode on my Canon point and shoot camera doesnt help either

No, it has two small points that connect with the metal contacts on the bottom corners of your Bold.

I also have one for work and one for home. I keep the one at home on the nightstand, and in bedside mode in the pod, it's the perfect alarm clock

Ah ha, so that's what these are for

As asked before, anyone knows if there is one that also sync?

Nope. Those two leads on the bottom are only for charging. At least that's how it's been for several generations of BB's now. The options for data sync are USB (micro in the case of the 9700) as well as Bluetooth. Not sure if there's a way to do sync over wifi...

Does anyone have the "item id" from RIM? I'm a bit worried about the products listed on ebay.co.uk - they're way cheaper than the one in the RIM shop and I'm not entirely sure if they're THAT original. :S

One is listed as "BlackBerry Bold 9700 Desktop Cradle Pod ASY-14396-011" - is said number correct?

Oh, found that at amazon.co.uk - http://www.amazon.co.uk/BlackBerry-A...0189661&sr=8-1 - cheaper anyway, I'll stick to amazon then, I guess.

This one will sync and charge. Plus it is a solid fit. No wobble or falling out.

I'm assuming this is a "no" but would the phone still fit in the dock with a snap-on hard case in use? (I'm so protective of my phones and hate to not have some sort of case/cover on them lol)

Thanks for the post, I would have never known about this, just ordered one. I assume that you can't have an Otterbox case on and use this though?

I bet so. It will be a little useless when using Otterbox on this beautiful pod. I am thinking if I should get it tho.
