Here are the disadvantages to the carrier blackberry.net address: You can only read it on the blackberry, and only so long as you have THAT BIS account. If BIS goes down you can't go and log in to your inbox on another machine. If you want to keep the message indefinitely, you either save it on the device or forward it to another email address and save or print it there.

The above disadvantages are solved with an ISP web mail address or internet email like Yahoo or Google.

But there may be advantages to the blackberry.net for you, for certain things.

I have a number of email addresses setup, including the blackberry.net address which I use for certain specific purposes, recognizing the limitations.

Another disadvantage i the carrier account is totally unfiltered. If the account gets out and is "harvested" you will get more SPAM than you care to see.

I do not recommend using that account for anything.

Why forward your MobileMe account to GMail?
It would be easier to just set up your MobileMe account directly on your BlackBerry in addition to your GMail account.

I agree. Set it up like any other email account.

I only use my BlackBerry email address to send things I want to go ONLY to my BlackBerry itself. Otherwise I use GMail and Apple's MobileMe.

The other great thing about using a GMail account is that you can automatically sync/back up your contacts to Google. When you get a new BlackBerry you just set up that same GMail account on it and all your contacts can be downloaded to the new device. Sweet!

I had a BBB bold about a year ago and didn't like it so went back to the iPhone, if I remember right I tried to set up my mobileme on that and switched to my gmail account as it ws more user friendly.........cant remember why though.
Anyway not to deviate to much away from the original topic, do you think that the mobileme or the gmail is the best option for a BB??
Thanks

Sorry I missed that, so are you saying that I should have 2 email accounts on my BB..........doesnt that cause problems with syncing contacts and mail sub folders??

Yes, the BlackBerry (using BIS, as you are) was designed to support up to 10 email accounts.
GMail offers wireless sync of calendar and contacts in addition to wireless email delivery.
MobileMe offers wireless email delivery only.
Neither supports subfolders, so that should be a non-issue.

Not sure what problems you might be expecting. Can you explain?

It's important to realize that email is one thing, and your contacts, calendar, notes, tasks is something else. If you have 10 email accounts, it doesn't matter, but you can only sync one set of calendar, contacts, notes, tasks with another data set (i.e. your contact book on your phone with contacts in Outlook)

I was hoping to have the same as the iPone as where you have sub folders of your inbox then these sub folders show up on your phone and in outlook when using mobileme................will BB not do the same???
What happens when I get an conformation of a hotel reservation on my BB and i want to save that (move it) to my hotel reservations folder in outlook........can i do that on the BB or do I have to wait and do it in outlook???

When i had the BB Bold before I used gmail to sync my contacts and calenders and just forwarded my mobileme emails to my gmail account and that worked somewhat OK but i was hoping that mobileme was up to speed with BB and could now do the same??
