I have had no battery issues at all. I installed at 3am last night and used all day. So far I am really happy. Seems to be faster overall. Not near as many bugs as I had with 90. I had bad luck with 90 from the start.

Camera works well and is much faster. Some have spoken of lost quality in pics. I haven't noticed anything drastic, as far as lost quality. Media player will start songs a few seconds in to the song. This is annoying, but I can live with this for now.

Most importantly, no battery pulls today! not a single one.

So far so good.

I have to agree with all of your statements. I am very happy and this has been the first one I have been happy with since .75

I do have one strange thing I noticed. When viewing my full menu I noticed my application folder is still there however the other "application manager" folder is gone? I checked to see if it was hidden for some reason and it is not. I would think I can restore this with DM, but I thought this was kind of odd. Anyone else have this issue?

Myself on T-Mobile and Jsanders on AT&T with our Storms have had this issue in every OS build so far. .99 has been the most stable for that so far for me. I am sure JSanders will chime in.

like this better than the .90 i was using. .

1. the screen actually dims and goes out now.
2. The camera works.
3. Downfall - Typing is back to being a little laggy.

Is this an official release? I still have my original OS that came with my Storm. Or is this a beta? Where do I get this to try it out?

So during the super bowl I was using TwitterBerry and texting heavily. I also had Gtalk in the background and was using that a little. From kick off until the end of the game my Storm was solid as a rock, then when the game ended and 15 minutes after I stopped using it (had it sitting in my lap), it rebooted on it's own.

I'm glad it didn't reboot in the middle of heavy usage, but I'm a little confused by this.

Sometimes when a new OS is loaded on a phone, application permissions will change. It will actually put a warning up on the screen typically and tell you it'd like to reboot. If you don't choose anything after a short period of time it reboots on it's own.

Not saying for sure that's what happened, but I've seen it happen a few times and it explains those weird reboots right after you load a new OS.

I have found 99 to be much more stable for me than 75 or 90 was. These are my personal observations on my phone from .75 to .99:

The bad:
Gradient color (lower color depth - I doubt this will exist in the official release)
Songs sometimes start a second or two into themselves when playing

The good:
Stability
Improved accel - no pauses when flipping phone in any screen
Media player volume issues gone
Overall speed seems more fluid

On .95 I had such problems dropping EDGE to edge that I replaced the radio files with those from .90 and it got better. I am upgrading today with .99 and will report back.

My only issue, and I had this same issue on .90 which made me fall back to .85 before:

when the phone is ringing or the alarm is going off, I can not do anything with the phone until it's done ringing. The only exception to this is when the phone is ringing from a call. Anything else, text, alarm, email.... I have have to wait for it to finish. It's annoying at times.

Don't expect too much from the official release. It is just going to be one of these leaked OS. It will have its problems, I am sure.

I talked to a friend of mine that works for Verizon and although he didnt have specific information, he has advised me that the reason this release is taking so long is because they are doing extensive testing to make sure the update they release will make most people happy. He also advised me there was a release supposed to come out in January but Verizon kicked it back to RIM because after testing it, it didn't satisfy their quality control. Hopefully patience will pay off when they finally do release the new upgrade.

Initial Thoughts:

The Application Center Icon is different in this build. I don't remember what each build had, but .90 had the circle looking icon and .99 has 3 overlapping folders with a diagonal down arrow.

Installing this OS was faster than previous builds. Still seems like it could be sped up some more.

Boot Time seems to be slightly improved.

I do see that the Enter Key has been replaced by Go outlined in Green in the Browser. Browser speed seems to be improved for me as well.

After playing with it for an hour, I was seeing slow response time in switching applications, so I went ahead and did a battery pull. That seems to have fixed a lot of the lagging I was seeing.

Portrait View Keyboard was defaulted back to SureType, but I changed it to Full Keyboard. The Letters/Numbers appear to have gotten smaller on there as well, but maybe it's just my eyes. They also don't seem as clear.

As far as the camera, for me it seems like snapping the picture slowed a bit. .90 was the fastest I had seen it on my device, but this build seems like it takes an extra second for me. The Quality of the picture seems to have lessened for me as well.

I really wish I could use the phone in Landscape Mode.

So far so good though. I haven't had any major issues.

Landscape Keyboard Letters/Numbers definitely got smaller and aren't as clear.

Not allowed to post links but any internet search of the OS build numbers should give you a download location.

Once you download it, install it, open up DM, and plug your phone it and it should see the new OS.
